Just talked to my step dad and I told him if he wanted to look at it sometime over the weekend he could and he said he would be down at 8 am to fix it. If there is something to fix he can't sit still :mj07:

Do you see the hex head shaped doo-hickey behind the thingy where the water comes out? Not hex like an evil spell but hexagonal shaped. If not use the vise grips and tighten the screw on the vise grips so that when you lock them in place around the pipe going into the house it holds firmly in place. Take a ford wrench, pipe wrench, crescent wrench, whatever, and put on the thingy where the water comes out. Put the wrench on the faucet opposite of the outflow and on top of the faucet. Turn counter clockwise while holding the vise grips and pipe in place not allowing it to turn. The easy way is to heat it with a torch first but that isn't important right now. Loosen all the way off, ensuring the pipe doesn't turn, put silicone thread tape or plumbers putty on the threads and screw the new water thingy on in its place. Name it whatever you like, then remember to turn your main water back on.

Hope this helps,
FDC

this expalnation is about as good as it gets.....getting that s.o.b. off without destroying the entire apparatus is going to be a bear....if it`s been on their since 1960,it`s gonna be hard to remove.....don`t be offended, but, you might not have enough juice to get it to move....

short of the torch, maybe wd-40 it and leave it over night....mine was so bad i had to use naval jelly on it(i wouldn`t recommend this brainchild of an idea...can`t leave that crap on very long..lol)....i ended up using a two-way brass hose to faucet y-connector as my spigot(lol)...but it`s behind a bush and it works.....

your old man is a mechanic...i would get him to try and get the faucet to turn.....

hopefully you won`t have have issues inside the wall....

g.l. lil` chicky....

edit...o.k.. i see dad is on his way.....g.l.

He called me at 9:30 am to tell me he fixed it. He said it was an odd size faucet so he just replaced the knob. Which was fine with me!:0074
