never in b-ball, I can understand in football for key numbers, but just can't see it working in b-ball, Dominic Lorenzo be damned.

with the house edge built in, why give them any more?

well here is one example why...

say the line is -2.5 and you take the favorite.

up 5 points with about 5 seconds left and the opponent hits a meaningless uncontested 3 to end the game.

now you lose lets say $110 instead of pushing and getting your $120 or whatever it may be back for buying that half point.

doesnt happen often but it happens, and MOST lines are supposed to be pretty tight, because that is the whole idea.

just one view you could look at anyway....

Strictly statistically speaking, it is a bad idea to buy the half point. The number of times it comes into play will pale in comparison to the extra juice you wind up paying.

BUT . . .

OMG do I motherf'n hate losing by half a point! So I buy it and look at it as an insurance policy against having to get that pissed off.

. . .so now I just get slightly less pissed off when I lose by a point.

Keep track. If you do, you will find you lose money buying points in the long run. The juice is very difficult to overcome in order to make a profit without adding to it. I wouldn't buy points in any sport, but certainly never in basketball.

maybe so.

11 losers at -120 juice would be a enough juice lost for a whole regular play at -110 assuming youre playing all games for the same amount.

a lot of books dont seem to offer this, and for good reason. if its crazy to buy points because they likely never come into play, why give better odds at a different number that will usually cover just as well as the original line.

what books DO offer this? I remember pinny did a few years ago.

Buying the half made me a winner in Delaware game last night and push in the Dayton and actually has saved me more often than not. So I guess my answer is I've been buying the hook more often than I ever did. Haven't kept a record but I say it seems to be better than 50/50. The only problem I am seeing now with all these on-line shops is they are starting to jack up every line making the buy more enticing. We are on the wrong end of this biznatch lol
