How stupid and sick does the owner and trainer feel who decided to sell War Emblem 3 weeks before the Derby to the Prince and Baffert. They lost out on alot of money and have to be feeling sick right now. Sold their horse for 900,000 dollars to the Prince and not to mention the taxes they will have to pay on the sale. Only to sit back and watch the horse they used to have for 7 races win the Kentucky Derby and is now worth Millions and Millions of dollars. Truly a Bonehead move on their part selling this horse. The Saudi Arabia Prince turned his 900,000 dollars into mega millions in 3 weeks. I would love to see them interview the owner and trainer who sold this horse because their head would look like this during the interview.

Who knows if the trainer wouldn't have done things differently & somehow he didn't make it or he did make it to the grounds, but the methods the former trainer did wouldn't have worked out as well & he wouldn't have done well? We can never really know if the same result would have happened.

I do know one thing for me personally & that is I don't like this horse as IMO he got brave on the lead in what turned out to be a paceless race.

Saw an article about this last week in a Chicago paper and the owner had apparently started to come into some hard times and didn't really want to sell but one million bucks was too good to turn down. He did retain a 10% ownership stake in the horse so he didn't completely miss out. What's tricky here is the $1,000,000 bonus that goes to any horse that can win the Illinois Derby and any one of the Triple Crown events. Supposedly, these details weren't worked out. I'm guessing this one will be in the courts for quite some time.

Take a look at this horses last 5 races-He obviously didnt care for the FG although he did win an allowance race there. His last 2 races were excellent. he won an allowance race by 10 lengths and the Illinois Derby by 6 lengths. He obviously came around when he got to Sportsman and he ran the best Beyer out of all the Derby horses(112) during the Illinois Derby. Horse was peeking at the right time so the decision to sell was a tough one. The object is this business is to make money so you cant fault the guy for selling the horse.
