Is Pittsburgh a favorite this week? Bulger is from Pittsburgh and has every reason to put on a good show and the Steelers SUCK, what is up with this line?

that line really doesnt surprise (and im a browns fan)

pittsburgh still isnt an easy place to play.

rams just dont perform well off of turf under martz.

i still think the road to the afc north title still goes through pittsburgh. i know its a weak division, but steelers still a pretty solid team all around.

rams will be able to exploit pittsburghs secondary, but i still think pittsburgh deserves to be the favorite. actually surprised it wasnt closer to a FG chalk

No disrespect, but I just don't see it that way, I mean both the offensive and defensive lines are terrible and Maddox is just not mobile enough to buy time for the recievers to get open. On the defensive side not only does the line suck, but the secondary is just plain horrible. Even considering the Rams like to play on turf, I just don't see this game being close. Throw in the rediculous play calling by the coaching staff and this one gets ugly early. I am a terrible NFL capper, but I can't see Pittsburgh winning here.

penguin:

like i said, being a follower of the browns and the afc north, the last thing i enjoy doing is giving pittsburgh credit. but thats not gonna be an easy place for st.louis to play.

quite honestly, as a fan i will be rooting for st.louis (as a rams win would greatly increase browns chances) but i dont see how you can say this is gonna be easy.

also, the numbers on st.louis on grass lately dont lie:

2-10 against the number in their last 12 on grass.

we'll see how it goes, but would be a major surprise if the rams were to not only perform well on grass, but to have it "get ugly early". hell, i hope youre right (for browns sake) but i just dont see it happening

Pittsburgh's key to winning this game is their secondary, which has been quite suspect. However, as gman mentioned, the Rams don't play well on grass. They've gone 4-0 ATS the last 4 hosting the Rams, and are fresh off the bye. The Steelers also post an impressive 17-6 mark ATS home in October. I was never an advocate of "sandwich games" and "lookahead games", etc. but St. Louis goes to SF for the Monday night game in week 9, where they have played well recently. Yes, it is tough to give Pitts the chalk considering their recent play, but as was noted earlier, Pitt isn't the easiest place to play...Slowing down the Rams WR's will force them to establish the run, which could mean a long long day for Martz & co. Public near 3:1 take on the Rams. Line barks Pittsburgh, let's wait for the public to push it up even more...

Good luck guys

Maybe.....

Maybe.....

Because the Rams suck on the road posting a horrid 1-9 SU as a well as a 2-8 spread slide. Add the fact that they are 3-13-1 ATS on the non-div road & being outscored by a combined total of 72-23 in their last 2 such games & you may have your reasoning right there.

If that aint enough Pittsburgh is well rested and are 14-5 ATS at home off a pair of losses.

I, for one. am steering clear of this nasty side dish.
There is much more on the menu this weekend. :yup

Oh btw for those of you jumping on Pitt be advised that they lost their last 2 HGs 30-13 and 33-13

Best to you

good counterpoint. however, it just seems like the rams receivers and even faulk (when he was healthy) were always a step slower on grass. their offense is really predicated on speed and timing/crossing. grass just seems to make them more defensible.

just to restate what i said earlier -- im by no means trying to say i like pittsburgh here. i just think the line is correct where its at, and the rams are very mortal on grass.

I still think this is a case where Pittsburghs reputatuion is swaying people, this is not a good football team and is gonna have the benefit of an easy schedule the second half of the season and that still may not be good enough to go 8-8.

Gman2, I like alot of your insight in many threads including this one, shame your a Browns follower and we can never be friends, though I do not like the direction the Steeler organization has gone over the past few years, I was born here and so I must dislike you, nothing personal, it's bigger than both of us.
Good Luck today.

Rams win this one 24-7
