in my opinion illinois has its best chance by trying to play the game like ga tech in dc or duke in durham. bynum and nelson had career games. duke made unc play a half court game and even though they got killed on the boards they won by one point while shooting 22 free throws. tech outrebounded unc and shot 29 free throws but also kept game in low 70's. wake shot 32-32 free throws but also got most of its scoring from the outside. unc does not defend the 3 very well. mich state just couldn't shoot the ball. if illinois plays a wake type game they will lose but if they can deny may the ball and keep mccants from getting many open looks, felton and marvin will have to beat them. illinois needs a good balance of number of 3's versus driving to the basket and getting on the line. even though unc has more talent i think illinois has more determination and may be a smarter team.and we also we have the roy factor to consider.if my memory is correct nick collison had career game vs duke and then played a mediocre game vs syracuse. i know it sounds easy but keep mccants and may from scoring their average, keep free throws and rebounds about even and keep game under 155 and i think illinois wins.

North Carolina
The best way to beat Carolina, is just to get back on defense and do it the entire game. Play a little bit safer on offense to avoid turnovers b/c they will turn them into points.
Carolina can play a half-court offense....but they can't do it the whole game. They got almost no fast breaks against Duke.
The other thing is to take advantage of some players. Manuel is great on defense. But my 6-year old nephew can dribble the ball better than he can. Trap the ball and leave Manuel open. Force them to pass to him and then go take it from him. Trust me, its not hard to do.
I love Manuel, but I'm surprised he can get food from a plate to his mouth without dropping the fork or stabbing himself.
Scott is another liability. I keep hearing that all he can do is shoot the ball. I guess that statement is half-right, b/c he definitely can't do anything else.
If Noel is in the game, foul him. Ok, no "hack-a-noel", but seriously, I think if he's in the game, I'd foul him on the 7th, 8th, and 9th and let him shoot 1-and-1's.
If Felton gets in foul trouble, then Carolina is in trouble.
I really hope Juwad's game is on again Monday night. I also hope that UNC uses a somewhat shorter bench.
Manuel getting in foul trouble might have been the best thing to happen to them Sat. Like I say, I love the guy and the fact that he found his role on the team. But he sucks so bad on offense, that teams are exploiting it.

you are right about manuel but they need his defense on the perimeter. this might be the last game at unc for felton, mccants, marvin and possible sean if his stock keeps improving. i just played a teaser with illinois plus 9.5 and unc plus 4.5 and under 161.5. its a small sucker bet. looking for player props and will take marvin if i find one with him. he is due for big game.

IMO at this point regardless of what happens tomorrow Marvin and Sean May will stay, i'd say mccan'ts is 50/50, felton is sure to go.

In the immortal words of Robert Montgomery Knight (paraphrased):

"The way to beat Carolina is to score more points."

Saint, as for next year, not sure if those are blue tinted glasses but word I have heard is May is gone close to for sure, McCants 25/75, felton gone for sure, Marvin almost stay for sure if at least one of the others is there, maybe stay regardless.

Not blue tinted glasses as much but more that my roomate hung out w/ sean about 3 weeks ago pre-tourny and those were the words he said. Of course I know his stock has risen considerably. He would be stupid not to leave now, he's definitely not going to get the looks he does now next year from Quentin Thomas that's for sure. But he still might stay 1 more year I have a feeling me might.

TJ Ford said he was coming back to Texas too, along with about 30 other guys over the years. The words they say mean nothing. To say he would be stupid not to leave is being kind.

Now explain to me why such a big fan is sitting at home instead of St Louis?
