How to calculate a winning percentage?

When calculating W-L %, how is a tie handled?
Example:
W-L-T 5-3-2
Is it .500 or do you not count the tie, in which case the above example would be like 5-3 or .625?

You're w/l record would be 62% winners

You're OVERALL record would be 50% winners.
