If you put in the cd and it still don't work, then the problem is on the hard drive not with the memory at that point. Not saying memory couldn't be bad, but it wouldn't give you that boot up error

In the options earlier there was a hard drive test, that is what I would run. A new hard drive is about $50-$70.

Hope you have some type of external backup or back up your files "in the cloud". I use Mozy for my documents and such, and google picassa for pics that I want backed up.

just take your hard drive out and run some water over it to clean it off...should be golden then:0008
