*Finally broke thru with a relatively strong weekend lw.....Hopefully giving me a shot of turning a profit on this wacky football season...

Have been laying low on these mid-week affairs and I'm done with the Sun Belt Conference this year, but I like tonight's totals in all 3 games (which is no doubt an omen to bet the Unders)

Wed.. 11/15

Toledo/B Green Over 65......4 units... WIN

EMU / Miami-Ohio Over 49'.....4 UNITS WIN

WMU/No Illinois Over 50......4 UNITS WIN

Begging for div 2 playoff moneylines

Ashland a home puppy
Midwestern st.
Findlay line movement is interesting because they are talking of 20 mph winds for the game and that will impact Shepherd.

Well woke up to snow this am which means snow blow and shovel.... Missed HSF games this morning at UNI Dome, and looks like Don Bosco covered so kicking myself a little..

Today:

Xavier -5 Pella (46)

Hawkeye please feel free to chime in if you see something sticking out.. I have looked long and hard at the Under but these two know each other pretty well and played a barn burner last year in the semi-finals which Pella won on last second 20 yard TD pass to escape with the 34-30 victory... In fact, Pella has made a habit of winning tight games on the big stage which should boost confidence here...

Both teams are nearly identical, with the exception of the records as the "Dutch" sitting at 12-1...and Xavier Saints 12-0.....Both teams feature tough, disciplined, athletic squads... Dutch offense averages 35.2 ppg, while Saints average 35......Both offenses are run-first off. with Dutch averaging 219.7 yards per game on the ground, while Saints are averaging 213.5 yards per game... On defense, teams are nearly identical with 14 INTS and 12 fumble recoveries each.. Both are very opportunistic and make opponents pay..... Pella D allows fewer than 14 pg and Xavier holds at 8.25 while Pella allows 13.7.....

Pella is attempting to win its 4th straight State Title... This season, The Dutch rushed for 2,636 w/39 TDs (averaging 219.7 ypg)... Dutch have numerous playmakers on O and are very dangerous..

Saints have a true dual threat QB Ryan Schulte (transitioned from WR) he has 872 yards w/19 TDs through the air but has 1,115 yards w/13 TDs on the ground.... Yes, he is the Head Coachs son...

What this breaks down to is 2 teams who know each other fairly well in the playoffs.... Tonight they will write a new chapter in their post-season encounters... Since Xavier moved to 3A in 2014 this game has gained speed into a big Rivalry....

I would guess that Hawkeye would promote the Under, but I played 3 units on Pella +5... LOSS and hope this one holds to form and comes down to the final possession.

Aww what the hell..

Played 2 units on Lodi/St Croix Central Under 41 WIN

This one smells like an under.... Both teams have had recent successes in playoffs... With St Croix winning a State Title... Panthers run a Triple Option Attack that keeps high school offenses off balance.... St Croix has outscored opponents 30-8 in this year's playoffs... They have pitched back to back shut-outs....

Lodi comes in with a perfect record and has held serve on Defense holding opponents to 39.1 points to 9.6 throughout their North Conference run this year.... HC Dave Puls loves his team's work ethic and leadership that sees 27 Seniors (many 2 and 3 year starters) keeping the train on its track..... Featured RB (Sr 6'1" 195 lbs) Jacob Heyroth has a mind blowing 2,758 yards w/35 TDs (1,162 of those yards and 13 TDs are from the playoffs).. He needs 242 yards to become the 2nd player in Wisconsin history to rush for over 3,000 yards.... He has a experienced Senior Laden O Line to run behind...... St Croix must stop this young man if they are to Win...

Thanks Hawkeye, I'm going to follow... You nailed the totals last year..... Still researching some things on Wisconsin playoffs (played at Camp Randall) so should be nice and cold... Going to see what these games do today.

HSF Degen Plays for Friday...

Plays are in.... Doesn't do much good to research the season on these teams as most stats become fairly meaningless in the State Championships.... Iowa HSF is fortunate to be playing in the cozy confines of the UNI Dome while Wisconsin Prep teams are at Camp Randall, where the weather is cold and wet....

I played Hawkeyes picks for Fridays Affairs:

Regina +9'.........3 units

Regina / Van Meter Under 53'.....3 units

Williamsburg +9'.......3 units

Williamsburg/Waukon Under 63.....3 units

*May have a play on Dowling/Iowa City West tomorrow..

8 AM Start

Eisenhower/Rice Lake Under 47'....3 units

New Berlin Eisenhower -6'.....3 units

*Eisenhower is looking for its 3rd State Title and considering the Defense has held opponents to 7.86 points per game (and allows average of 193 total yards pg) It stands to reason they should be given the edge... No team has scored more than 14 points since first game of the season.... Last week, the Defense held an undefeated Whitefish Bay 21-14 and had 2 goal line stands within the last 3 minutes, but the D held.... The fact that Whitefish had 14 points was from the uncharacteristic play of its star QB (Bryce Miller has 1,648 yards w/19 TDs passing) (WR Stephen Halusan has 44 catches for 829 yards w/9 TDs (All State Honors) both players had a fumble in the 3rd quarter which lead to Whitefish points......

Lions are playing for the State Championship for the 5th time in school history... They won back to back D3 Titles in 1995 & 1996....finished as state runner ups in 1986 & 1989....This year's version is led by featured RB Jack Himmelspach (962 yards with 13 TDs on 130 carries) joining him in the backfield is Sr RB Jake Belongia, who has 935 rush yards... Both RBs are on the verge of breaking 1,000 yards..... This program won the Woodland West Conference (its 2nd Div 2 Title in 3 seasons.... The Defense has posted 4 shutout victories this year...
*QB B Miller will leave school as the all time leader in passing yards while WR S Halusan has the school's most reception and receiving yards.... (last week, Miller was 10 of 13 for 184 yards w/2 TDs & Halusan caught 8 passes for 154 yards w/2 TDs)..... This team hasn't trailed yet this season with an average margin of victory of 38 points...

On the other side of the ball is Rice Lake Warriors making their 6th Title game appearance (won in 1979) but runner up in 1980, 1982, 2004, and 2014....Finished in 3rd place in the Big Rivers Conference where they picked up 2 losses.... However, the conference is loaded with bigger schools and Div 2 and Div 1 programs..... This Defense is formidable allowed only 11 ppg..... HC Dan Hill is in his 12th season, where he is 78-48 overall.... In last week's game against Notre Dame Academy, the Warriors handled ND 28-7......Warrior Offense averages 33.2 ppg..... QB Peyton Buckley is 47 of 92 for 895 yards w/14 TDs..... RB Brandon Sutton is the go-to RB that has produced 1,129 yards w/17 TDs on 187 carries..... Also, RB Billy Brown has 67 carries for 694 yards w/6 TDs....

This is the team's 2nd finals appearance in 4 seasons.... The Offense is a run first running the FlexBone which translates to Option Football, and Triple Option with a lot of hot read and misdirection... One loss was to the #4 seed in Div 1 Hudson (loss 26-16) the other loss was to the #1 seed in Div 2 Menomonie (lost 27-16)....also should be noted that injuries wiped out the Offensive Line for both games.....

I expect another great Defensive Game in this one...... Think perhaps that Eisenhower has a little more firepower and the Defense is Special....

Played...

Waunakee +4.........3 units

Waunakee/Brookfield Central OVER 56...3 units

*Game Starts at 11 AM

**2 power programs take center stage with two undefeated schools locking horns...

Waunakee Warriors are 13-0 in the D2 Title game and have thrashed their way through the season with the closest game being 21 points behind.... Ranked #5 in WI, this is Waunakees 9th Title Game appearance... Won 5 State Crowns and from 2009-2011 they ran a 3-peat on the Title.... Also won D3 Title in 1999 & 2002....Last week they soundly beat a very good Green Bay Southwest 35-14.....QB Nate Carter has passed for 1,989 yards w/25 TDs... In the backfield is RB Javian Dayne (has rushed for 2,156 yards w/13 TDs on 261 carries) if the name rings a bell it's because Dad Ron Dayne made a name for himself at Camp Randall terrorizing Defenses in the Big 10 on his way to Heisman Trophy Honors.... Joining Dayne is L. O. Johnson, a Div 1 100 meter dash state Champ... On Defense, Warriors allowed just 48 points in 9 games..... Allowed only 6.76 ppg all season..

Enter Brookfield Central, also 13-0 and in their 4th Title Game appearance (finished runner-up in 1999, 2002, and 2006)...Last week they defeated Waukesha West 38-23......the Offense averages 38.8 ppg while only allows 7.46 ppg..... QB Drew Leszcynski has thrown for 2,114 yards w/28 TDs while carrying 99 times for 500 yards w/6 TDs, the Dual Threat Qb is widely recruited to play D1...... RB Rashad Lampkin has 86 carries for 593 yards w/18 TDs..... The Defense is stout and boasts Div 1 talent on both sides of the ball.... This team is Senior heavy and returned 16 starters from last years successful team

Usually I would be all over the Under, but I'm thinking this one could see some offense so I'll play the OVER and take the Warriors...

2pm Start

Kimberly +2........3 units

I was surprised to see the Papermakers (love this Mascot) getting a couple of points... While Sun Prairie is no joke, Kimberly sports a 69 game winning streak, (longest active streak in the Nation) and playing devils advocate just feels wrong, so why buck a streak for a program that just wins...... Papermakers defeated Appleton North last week 31-14.... QB Alec Rosner has amassed 1,984 yards passing w/24 TDs.... RB DJ Stewart has 272 carries for 1,853 yards w/24 TDs....

Sun Prairie is appearing in their 3rd Title Game, having captured a crown in 1995 and runner-up in 2012..... Last week's semifinals was won 26-21 to Muskego.... QB Jack Zander has thrown for 2,031 yards w/28 TDs...... RB Draven Peeples has 158 carries for 1,112 yards w/19 TDs..... The word on the street is this Zander kid is the real deal and has a host of long, quick Wide-outs to throw to.....

I may add a couple of units to the Under here, however, I can't buck the winning streak of Kimberly, and think they pull this one out too!

REgina

Regina play calling is horrid... They will gain 30 or 40 yards on the ground and then go to the air... Its absurd. Regina looks like a very nice team but Van Meter looks more physical.

Boy that Kimberly vs Sun Prairie game looks pretty amazing. When you get to the state title game there is so much psychology... The Papermakers being here 5 times in a row has instilled in them a sense of we are going to win every thing... I am excited about this game and I dont even follow Wisconsin...
