I couldn't resist in this Iowa Class 4A Title between the two teams that are here for the grudge match..... Actually it's the 1st time Class 4A has featured a rematch from the year before...... A game that Dowling Catholic won 23-10 for its 4th consecutive Championship.... Tonight it goes for #5.......
Both teams come in with loaded, athletic rosters... From my understanding the Maroons (love this mascot) sport the biggest O Line in the State..... On the flip side, Iowa City Trojans counter with the quickest D Line in the State (arguably).... Both schools have their fair share of College bound athletes....Both programs have great Coaches and both are considered football factories...
No doubt Maroons have had a target on their back all season... It may be a reason that Dowling dropped a regular season decision in a close 22-19 game to playoff bound Ankeny Centennial, coincidentally these two met again last week in the semifinals where Dowling avenged the hiccup by crushing Ankeny 44-7...... It has me a little concerned that the juggernaut is back on track and playing its best football.
From what I understand, the pundits feel that this is a retooling year for Dowling and the program may be down a tad, but don't tell that to the 11 other teams it throttled.... Still, I think Iowa City can hang here and like the Under to continue its way.... Trojans are seeking their first title since 1999.....Tonight, Trojans have a chance to dethrone the king.... Gl
