Plenty of Treats in HSF last week...... Love those lock and load. Need to keep it moving.
Thurs 6 pm
Arvada West 55'
Colombine -27'
2 units on Over 55'
2 units on AW +27'
*Colombine has been a pleasant surprise in route to a perfect 9-0 year thus far. Rebels are ranked #140 in the Nation, #3 in the State and Div. Really haven't had a scare all year as they have outscored opponents 347-106. Rebs seeking 2nd undefeated season in last 4 and have already secured 1st in the Metro West. Sr QB Logan Deament (5'9" 175) leads the charge with with 610 pass yards but he's dangerous on the ground too. Last year he was a 2nd Team All-State player with 1,299 pass yards and 924 rush yards..... Rebs love to run the ball and like to ISO All-State OL Jr Andrew Gentry (6'8" 310 lbs) who has offers all over. This year's version is utilizing a RB by committee and average a mind numbing 311.1 ypg. Jr RB Tanner Hollens (5'11 170 lbs) leads with 938 rush yards (8.4 ypc). A slough of underclassmen help with running duties, and the JV team last year was 9-1 so they know about winning.
Arvada West Wildcats sit at 6-3....The team started hot out of the gates winning their first four before dropping 3 straight. Hopefully they are starting to figure it out as they have won last 2, including a dominant win over State Power Mullen 37-16.....Better results were predicted for the Cats as they returned 11 Offensive Starters from a 7-4 team... Also returned 8 starters on the Defensive side too... Sr QB Johnny Krutsch (5'11" 190 lbs) is a capable field general with 2,574 pass yards on 167 of 267 attempts, averaging 286 yards per game. Sr WR Chris McEahem (6'1" 180 lbs) has 1,087 receiving yards and averages 103.7 ypg.... Sr RB/DB Tony Cass (5'11" 185 lbs) has rushed for 622 yards and averages 7.2 ypg.
I suppose Colombine could run away with this game and they are certainly capable of winning by more than -27' but Arvada can score and Colombine has already clinched the Metro West so I could see some scrubs coming in to guard against injuries as the playoffs are right around the corner.... In fairness, Arvada is stuck in 4th place and can't move up or down.... Cats have scored 289 points this season but have given up 247......I won't venture out and call this game an upset but both of these offenses can produce points so I'm loving the Over here and I'll take a chance on Arvada + the points.
