Newark, DE - University of Delaware basketball announced
the suspension of three players on Wednesday, two from its men?s program and
one from its women?s team.
?This athletics department has very high and very clear expectations of our
student-athletes,? said Delaware director of athletics Eric Ziady. ?When these
expectations are not met there will be certain and consistent consequences.
Our student-athletes will take ownership of the decisions they make both on
and off the court.?
Jarvis Threatt, Marvin King-Davis and Shanice Johnson have drawn a one-month
penalty for unspecified violations of athletic department policies.
Threatt, a junior guard, ranks second on the Blue Hens in scoring at 17.9
points per game, and places third with 5.8 rebounds per contest while starting
19 games this season.
King-Davis, a sophomore forward, has participated in all 21 games this season,
averaging 5.8 points and 4.4 boards while leading the club with 18 blocked
shots.
Johnson, a freshman forward out of suburban Philadelphia, has averaged 7.9
points and 6.1 rebounds per game over 17 appearances.
Delaware?s men, under eighth-year head coach Monte Ross, leads the Colonial
Athletic Association with a 6-0 conference mark and 14-7 overall record.

I think that much of the time gamblers over react to such news, turning the stricken team into a good value despite being short handed. I am a big believer in the " next man up" thinking as it gives the bench kids a chance to show 'em what they have. many times, they fill those shoes well.

Agree that at least for the first night that a no play is probably the best play.
