You are the worst pitching manager in baseball. I have been a Pirate fan my entire life and am tired of this coach . I travel across the states each year to watch my buccos ' . Again today you did everything you could do to not win a ballgame. With the score 5-4 twins and pirates on 1st, and 2nd you elect not to bunt them over with a good bunter Harrison up who already bunted for a hit earlier. Your team is struggling to score and you do nothing to help the team. Put the damn ball down and make the twins make a play. Ends up if they bunted over they tie the score because next hitter hit deep fly to center. A coach is suppose to help a team not keep them down. Your time has run out with me, as we have a loaded team with young quality pitchers and a couple really good players at positions with Diaz and Fraizer waiting in the wings. I know your in a good spot because the Pirates don't spend money, but if they were smart they would go get the ex Yankees coach who the Cardinals have met with and they will spend the money. All this has been building up inside of me for a few months now, and i seldom ever bet on or against my Pirates!

Seems like a lot of managers are in over their heads. Martinez in Washington comes to mind. Too many playing it by the book taking out starting pitchers when they are cruising only to have bullpen blow the game. Can't tell you how many times that has happened to me this year. Bunting, stolen bases and other "small ball" strategies have gone by the wayside in lieu of the home run. Shifts could be countered by bunting but very few attempt it. Not trying to be "old time baseball guy", I am only 52, but don't see much strategy or thought by managers. Watch a lot of mets and yankees here in N.Y. (not a fan of either team) and a guy like Gary Sanchez hitting .200 with 15 H.R.s and quite possibly the worst defensive catcher in baseball is made out to be a superstar.:nooo: Anyhow, my rant is over. I feel a little better. Good Luck on your plays.

Agree 100%
Did you know that this year there will be more strike outs then hits for the first time in MLB history. Players bitch about the shift, so DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Your right lay down a few bunts and they will play you honest.

Could not agree more. The overall quality of play in baseball has declined dramatically over the years. Martinez was in the exact same situation a few days ago and did the exact same thing.

I do not think it is a coincidence that these younger player managers never bunt. They hated bunting when they played so they manage to make the players happy versus doing what is best to win the game. I have been going nuts watching Davey Martinez manage the Nats. I never watch the Buccos, but no way Hurdle can be worse than Martinez. He is the worst manager I have seen in a very, very long time.

I'm A Ranger fan and I have watched Gallo strike out 163 times
already this year. Now that's pathetic :mj07:
