First of all, MY thoughts and prayers to those in Florida and surrounding areas!!!

I am sitting here watching the Weather Channel, it's 7:15 in the morning, and living in New Orleans, I am expecting some serious rain.

Anyway, I digress.

Weather Channel goes to some "dipshit" giving a LIVE update while Francis is coming ashore.
Picture this:

This jerk-off is in 80+ MPH winds, trying to give a LIVE broadcast. You can't here anything he is saying, rain beating the sh!t out of him, he can hardly stand up.

Are we, as viewers, suppose to feel sorry for this schmuck, or does it bring more credibility to see "joe weatherman" in a hurricane.

For me, if the trees are bent over to the ground, waves are 10+ feet hight, and rain is coming in "sideways", you really DO NOT need to be out in the weather to do an interview.

All it will take is a flying piece of sheet metal to come flying by when one of the guys/gals is doing an interview, and its all over!!!

I guess it is all for SHOCK VALUE!!!

Anyway, just had to vent.

Everyone have a GREAT Labor Day!!

I agree. Did you see the lady in the Bahamas get hit by a piece of styrofoam? Put a big-ass bruise on her hip!

This little lady in New Smyrna's getting thrown around like a rag-doll.

Idiots! We get the picture!

Just sent an email to the "weather channel".

Will see if they respond.

I know it doesn't affect me, but in the brilliant words of Forrest Gump

"STUPID is, as STUPID does"!!!!!!

Yes, it does look stupid. I am local, and have a brother in law who is a camera man for one of the 4 local channels. I dont think it is shock value so much as it is a pissing contest between them.....They all play one upsmanship and it has been going on for years. Plus, they are all network affiliated and I think there is some pressure from them .
TJBELL, keep an eye out for Ivan ! I am already.

They do it every time. Saw Geraldo out there getting into the act. Maybe it takes soneone getting hurt seriously or worst before they cut this crap out.
I'm not amused.

Yeah, and first they tried to say it was plywood. The funniest part is when the reporter was describing the incident, she says, 'and totally out of nowhere.....'TOTALLY OUT OF NOWHERE??? I guess she didn't notice the palm trees 40 feet away that were perpendicular to the ground? Or the sideways rain? Or the 80 mph winds? Or the cars flying above her head?

Then there was the reporter up near Orlando who missed getting killed by a falling palm tree by literally 6 inches. The trunk JUST missed him and the branch hit him and knocked him down. Then he gets up heroically telling everybody that he's just shaken up and he's ok.

Idiots.

Hurrican Ivan is now upon us!!!

Picture this:

I was debating on whether to leave yesterday, but decided to wait until today, Well Ivan made a northern turn which took it away from New Orleans.

soooo,

b/c of the winds N.O.P.D. put out a 2:00 curfew to keep people off the streets, So about 12:45 I took the kids, wife, and in-laws out to Lakeshore drive to "stretch" our legs before curfew started.

There was about 100+ people doing the same thing, just watching the waves and checking out the weather. :grouphug:

Of course, three news stations out there doiing "LIVE" broadcasts. :142crying

Now, winds are about 30+ MPH and waves from Lake Ponchatrain crashing up and over sidewalk, No big deal, no one is in danger.

"Joe Weatherman" is doing a live broadcast, and I'm standing there watching him.

Now before broadcast he's standing there surveying the lake.
Camera's rolling. He starts broadcasting and as wind is blowing he starts bending over at the waist, like its 80+ MPH winds :142smilie
He's barely keeping his feet, hollering into the microphone, while all of us are standing, not even moving.
;142loser:
My son is holding my father-in-laws hand and I tell him to walk behing "joe schmuck" and the camera.
Now this guy in bending over like its Mach 4, and here comes my three year old son, and they stop and wave :sadwave: to the camera.

Everyone bust out laughing at this prick, trying to put on a "show" for the audience.
I don't even think he saw Spencer behind him.

AFter the broadcast they literally ran to the truck, to :142hump: , I guess.

Anway, while I do believe there is competition like some other responses stated. I also believe it is pure "shock value" :violin:

We "walked" back to our car, came home, curfew is now in effect, and everyone is safe.

lol- funny stuff lawtchan. Good to see that idiot reporters aren't exclusive to Florida.

Glad all is better for you and New Orleans than it could have been.
