Belly of the Beast
The topic of Peak Oil and the result of what MAY HAPPEN when the global demand for oil exceeds the supply was related to the first horseman of the apocalypse as mentioned in Revelation 6.

As you already know, China and the United States have both warned the oil producing countries they will not be held hostage over the production and distribution of oil.

President Bush has already asked King Abdullah twice to increase oil production. The first time he was publicly told "no". The second time he was granted a small increase.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, downplayed the Saudi increase.

"Nice try, but no cigar. When gas is at $4 per gallon, demand increases almost daily, and the Saudis have millions of barrels per day more in spare capacity," he said.

"This isn't nearly good enough."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Six Five, when you went to church yesterday, what was the topic of your pastors sermon?
I don't see anything in here about oil supply? :shrug:
Revelation 6
1And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
2And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
3And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
4And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
5And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
7And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
9And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
12And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
LOL!!
What a "liberal" interpretation of revelations. I have read the Bible 5+ times and I attended a Christian school and church for 18 years of my life, and my father was a minister, so I can say that I have some theology background, and this is such a ridiculous fear-laundering interpretation of the Bible that is really makes me sick.
Give me a break Buddy - let's kill people for oil. I guess you forgot one of the basic tenets of the Bible - the 10 commandments. Let me refresh your memory on one:
THOU SHALT NOT KILL.
But thanks for reminding me why I don't go to church anymore... how ridiculous.
You aren't reading between the lines, Bobby.
Really? You have to read between the lines - come on I know you are smarter than that.
Or, you can just go to church and believe whatever the preacher says is true. It's kind of along the same lines as believing whatever politicians say is true.
Don't bother with any critical thinking...people might thing you are anti-American.
Yeah, I think they are talking about olive oil. ...Which could be the answer. Drill for olive oil!
The wine shortage is what scares me the most though. The hot chicks drink wine.
This is clearly a reference to Obama. The black and white horse aka a zebra ..ala Obama. He will be given the power over the 4th part of the earth ...aka the USA and the Western World.
It's so obvious people!
I apologize I wasn't able to remember word for word the entire sermon, which charts and graphs were used in depicting the Peak Oil bell curve, in which order they were used and just what the pastor meant when he made reference to the first horseman of the apocalypse.
I'll call the pastor tomorrow and ask him to redo last weeks service.
Stay tuned for updates.
I don't think anyone is asking for charts and graphs - you changed your belief system and thought that anyone who didn't share your view wasn't using common sense. And now you can't provide a summary?? Well, it's your belief system
Did the pastor seem to be for or against the end of days?
hmmm... That's not how I interpret Revelation 6, but that is such a hard book to understand.
we had a sub Sunday, and he talked about love. Kinda tame, but it was good.
Agree with him or not.....
You have to be impressed with the humor Buddy has handled a subject for which he's very passionate about. Even though he's been multiply mocked pretty good by many. :thumb:
