Jeez and to think juicy stories like this never get reported in the mainstream liberal press, go think:mj07: :142smilie

Members of the liberal left exude an air of moral certitude. They pride themselves on being selflessly committed to the highest ideals and seem particularly confident of the purity of their motives and the evil nature of their opponents. To correct economic and social injustice, liberals support a whole litany of policies and principles: progressive taxes, affirmative action, greater regulation of corporations, raising the inheritance tax, strict environmental regulations, children's rights, consumer rights, and much, much more.
But do they actually live by these beliefs? Peter Schweizer decided to investigate in depth the private lives of some prominent liberals: politicians like the Clintons, Nancy Pelosi, the Kennedys, and Ralph Nader; commentators like Michael Moore, Al Franken, Noam Chomsky, and Cornel West; entertainers and philanthropists like Barbra Streisand and George Soros. Using everything from real estate transactions, IRS records, court depositions, and their own public statements, he sought to examine whether they really live by the principles they so confidently advocate.

What he found was a long list of glaring contradictions.

Michael Moore denounces oil and defense contractors as war profiteers. He also claims to have no stock portfolio, yet he owns shares in Halliburton, Boeing, and Honeywell and does his postproduction film work in Canada to avoid paying union wages in the United States.

Noam Chomsky opposes the very concept of private property and calls the Pentagon "the worst institution in human history," yet he and his wife have made millions of dollars in contract work for the Department ofDefense and own two luxurious homes.

Barbra Streisand prides herself as an environmental activist, yet she owns shares in a notorious strip-mining company.

Hillary Clinton supports the right of thirteen-year-old girls to have abortions without parental consent, yet she forbade thirteen-year-old Chelsea to pierce her ears and enrolled her in a school that would not distribute condoms to minors.

Nancy Pelosi received the 2002 Cesar Chavez Award from the United Farm Workers, yet she and her husband own a Napa Valley vineyard that uses nonunion labor.

Schweizer's conclusion is simple: liberalism in the end forces its adherents to become hypocrites. They adopt one pose in public, but when it comes to what matters most in their own lives--their property, their privacy, and their children--they jettison their liberal principles and embrace conservative ones. Schweizer thus exposes the contradiction at the core of liberalism: if these ideas don't work for the very individuals who promote them, how can they work for the rest of us?

It's been two years since anyone has given MM a second thought. Well, except for the hard-core neocons trying to deflect from the fact that their party had control of the country for the past six years and did just such a GREAT JOB!!!!

This petty shit because the guy came out and said stuff five years ago that has somehow come true but your to stupid to research it yourself. Your better off letting Limbaugh and Fox news explain to you that this is a very bad man.

So your all right with Pelosi the great champion of labor using nonunion labor to pick her grapes and work at all their hotel and restaurants.

Typical, you answer the only statement about a moron and let the more important point go about the leader of your party in the house.

Ct, what is your stand on the Carlye Group? I notice you didn't venture an opinion on that. If Moore does indeed own stock in Halliburten I would be very disappointed. Of course, in your Neocon way, you offer no proof or links.:scared (Sorry I had a DTB moment there.)
But seriously, what is your take on Carlyle Group?

These are facts in a new book, yes by a conservative, but I guess if it isn't true they all will be suing now won't they.

Oh yea I forgot the liberals never are hypocrites or liars only the other side, unbelievable.

BTW this is my thread so why not answer the points here, if I want to read yours I would have answered in it.

Couldn't agree with you more, but whats the point ? You could point out the same thing about the far right. The one thing that the far left and right have in common is they are both extremist and hypocrites, and most every day Americans do not live and think like these people.

In all honesty, I think humans, as a whole, are naturally hypocritical. Like the Hillary example... I wouldn't want my 13yo daughter (if I had one) growing up any faster than she had to. But I also think that there is no group that needs access to abortion MORE than young teenagers. "Do as I say and not as I do", ya know? I think that mindset transcends partisan lines, and is simply human nature.

Go Buckeyes.

[/QUOTE]

I have not and would never vote for either Clinton for anything but I do agree with Hillary, if this is true. If your daughter is 13 and she needs to have a abortion, you are not a good parent and you should be prosecuted for endangering a minor, You didn't do your job. What kind of parent is going to have a 13 yr old pregnant daughter ? On the Chelsea issue, she was taking care of her own. That is what she is supposed to do. If everyone did that we would not need government to take out our trash. Why would you want a 13 yr old to bring a child into her world ? There are many hypocrites on the right that would fight for her right to have the child but do nothing once its born. What are you doing for 13 yr olds that are having kids and their kids ?

Hey CT. Calm down. I told you I am disappointed in all that you said. If it is true. But like your Neocon Brothers you chose to answer what you feel like.

Everyone is a hypocrite. At least I am and I have never met anyone who was not. But that doesn't mean that you cannot have ideals and try to live by them, while realizing that sometimes it is necessary to go against what you believe to be true because of the systems that are already in place politically, socially, and economically.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

Hey stevie, I did get carried away and once again like I stated in another thread in the general forum to eddie, I'm done with all this crap.

Everyone does have an opinion and who is to say who is right, seems pretty trivial to me right now.

So just take what I said with a grain of salt, no big deal.

That's what I'm wondering, since it's now your MAIN POINT!!!

I'm guessing it's a $$ issue?...Cheaper labour maybe?...Are they all Central American 'refugees' all working for $3 an hour?...or are they US citizens working for a decent wage but just don't 'belong' to a union?

Hey, it's like Dogs advised us all...you can either complain about a company, or just be quiet and invest in them, and profit from them.

I guess they all listened to him...lol. It is the conservative way, after all.
