I only post here when I feel like I am going to contribute to helping people win.

2 main reasons why I really like this pick this weekend. I dont like to say the word lock but I havent been more confident in a pick in a long time.

Take the Detroit Lions at home this week minus the points against SF. SF just had a huge huge win at home last week and they are due for a letdown game on the road traveling across (most) of the country.

One of the reasons I really like this pick is because SF is traveling and I feel like this year traveling teams have struggled a bit. Case in point last week with TB.

The Lions are 9-0-1 in their last 10 against the spread. They may not be as underrated as they once were but they definitely put up points and I dont think SF can hang with them on the offensive side of the ball.

Detroit has outscored opponents 72-16 at home this year. SF is 4-1 but their schedule has been very week so far. Their big win came in philly a few weeks ago, but we know that philly team is a fraud and SF came back in that game after being down because the philly defensive line gave up and let Gore run all over them. Gore even said they gave up in a press conference. Im not impressed with the SF wins this year. They squeaked by cincy, lost at home to a bad dallas team (in which detroit BEAT IN DALLAS) and they won at home in the opener against a seattle team who nobody knows what they really are right now. SF has benefited from turnovers this year as well. Lions wont turn the ball over, they may not run much against a good SF run defense but Stafford and megatron going to have a BIG BIG day against SF on Sunday. Mark me down boys, Im only here to help.

DETROIT - 5 is the play of the week possibly the year.

Sounds very logical to me! The only thing that scares me a little bit is when a team is coming off a Monday Night game and has that short week to prepare. I think that early in the year teams are not affected by the short week as much as they are later in the year once they are more use to that weekly routine. I am pretty sure that the Lions get a short week every year for Thanksgiving. And recently have not done well on that day. But that was then and this is now!!

Good Luck Bro- Hope you nail it!!

I COULDNT DISAGREE MORE. I GUESS THATS WHY THEY CALL IT GAMBLING

Awesome! Any reasoning behind the disagreement or just stating you disagree just to disagree?

Im not saying SF is a bad team, I just think Lions at home win this game bigger than the line suggests. If it was played in SF, different story. If SF beats Tampa last week 23-20 instead of 48-3, this weeks line against the lions would have been 7+.

I like sf this week to catch good, yet overrated, Detroit in a down spot on a short week. Detroit was down by 20+ in multiple games fo a reason. Dallas gave Detroit th game. Sf20-17 is my take. Btw, you're a lion fan, right?

If the main reasoning is travel, why is this the game that fits so well? Lots of travelling going on. Not being a jerk, just curious. I am a Lions fan and I am not thrilled about this match up.

Not that you asked me, but I know sf stayed out east between their 2 game roadie prior to last week. I think this lessened the burden on the niners. Hard to back Detroit on short week against a physical team, especially with detroit off of huge division win and consecutive emotional comeback wins.

49er's defense is better than anything the lions have faced this season. I know for a FACT the lions won't be able to run the ball...we'll see how their one dimensional offense looks against them.

Although the Lions have a short week to prepare, they didn't have to travel. I'm not sure why niners are getting so much love  If I was going to back the niners in this spot i'd like to be getting at least 7 points. Given the low line and all the love for the west coast team I'd take the lions :0074

Your comments made me look at the Lions schedule. Had to ask, which Det win impressed you? TB (same team SF just smoked), KC (??), Minn (should have lost!), Dallas (should have lost!) or Chi (should have won by 20+!)? Lions haven't bagged any really huge wins either.

I think biggest factor will be short week for Detroit. Remember how big of deal ESPN made about how long it has been since the Lions played on Monday night. Hard to believe Lions players & coaches didnt put extra effort into that game. Will they be up for a physical battle from the 9ers?

Not knocking your play, just trying to offer some counterpoints.

A lot of contradictions with this pick....

Do you really thing the 49ers are going to have a letdown after beating Tampa at home???...Give me a break.

They didn`t just beat the Patriots....It was Tampa...and at home....If anybody will letdown its the Lions...They just played there 1st Monday night game in 20 years...And a short week to boot.

And the 49ers already have won 2 east coast games this season....Beating the Bengals and Eagles:shrug:

49ers average 28.4 points per game:shrug:

Lions are 5-0....They beat nobody....10-14 are the combined record of the 5 teams they beat.

Next time dont have a write up.

Good luck with your play.

I've lived in the Detroit area all my life and I can honestly say I've never seen or heard anything like this. We have a truly good quarterback, a strong receiving corp headed by the Megatron, maybe the best defensive line in the NFL and a coach that does and says all the right things. Is this a team on a mission. Are they this years team of destiny like yyz said, they just may be that good?
