If you are looking for a surprise team in 2003, here they are. Believe it or not, but this team is turning it around (in the process) and depending on who they draft can definitely impact their success. Lets take a closer look to see where they need help. Trouble brewed early on in the season for Minnesota's offense, and I believe that is mostly due to their poor offensive line play. As the season moved on it was fairly evident that the men in front started to gel. Daunte Culpepper seemed to find his stroke once this group got their act together and more importantly Michael Bennett proved to be very effective. So O-line, QB, and RB should be out of the question as a first round selection. How about a WR to take some pressure off of Randy Moss? I would love this move because I think that if a guy like Andre Johnson could produce results right away then this team would be back to its form when they made a run in '98 . Do they have more pressing needs? Yes of course. I don't recall seeing any purple at the top of any defensive statistics last year. I think that their D-line was able to create pressure last year, but once you get past the first rush, running the ball against this team is like cutting butter. Biekert helped, not sure if they will bring him back, but the signing of Chris Claiborne is a very big move by Minnesota. Detroit is stupid to let this guy go, he was one of their best players on defense. Claiborne will fill a big hole for Minnesota in the middle of their defense. Well now we come to the Viking secondary, which is practically non-existant. Ronnie Bradford and Tyrone Carter (probably the only name you might have heard from their DB's) are free agents. Drafting here might be a very likely possibilty, but I think they would be wiser to take a chance on a wide receiver, and outscore opponents because even with a Marcus Trufant this defense is still a few players away.
