This might not be the right message board to put this in, and if its no im sorry.. Jack

I have been coming here for a long time and respect everyone's opinion on here. I know my question doest effect very few fans on here, but I would love to here everybodies truthful opinion.

WHEN Mike Shula goes, 1) Who do you think Alabama will go for and 2) Who would be the best fit for the job.

I will give Shula credit in cleaning up the program and its a way more appealing job than it was a few years ago. I know he wont get fired after this season, but if he does this Sh-t again next year (which I think he will) he will be gone. He's just not a good head coach and he got thrown in to make our turmoiled program look good.

Last year, our record was all on the players and not coaching, except Joe Kines. He had so much talent he couldnt do wrong.

But Seriously, If you anyone has some insight to my questions: 1) Who do you think Alabama will go for and 2) Who would be the best fit for the job.

Please Respond
Thanks for your time

I want to say I heard Butch Davis' name on the wire on the radio yesterday.

Can't really add a ton to the discussion myself, just that the SEC is a really tough conference to get ahead, with it's smashmouth brand of football, and the majority of the teams being competitive. Maybe Shula isn't the right guy, but the program definitely looks like it's going in the right direction.

I am an AU fan so you may take my thoughts as you wish. Shula, as you said, has the program headed in the right direction. You already have 5 of the top 10 in state recruits on board and are in the mix for 3 more(Gibson, McNeil and Murphy) but you have a young inexperienced coach who finds a way to screw things up. I think a Butch Davis type would bode well yet I would give Shula 2 more years. I may be headed to T-Town for the game next week yet I am married now so no more Pounders at 3am.

Feel very confident that Butch Davis is going to end up at N.Carolina.

Perhaps John L. Smith could take over at Bama.

john l smith is the last person bama needs to coach the team.

if i was calling the shots i would go after somebody with bama or sec roots.....

BTW, the John L. Smith comment was a joke.

Although I wonder if Mich. St is more of the problem than John L.

Seems like no one can win at Michigan St. or South Carolina, no matter who they are.

Coaching graveyards.

tj..

sorry for misinterepreting what you said.

i don't see why coaches can't win at mich. st & so. carolina.

as my friend taoist stated spurrier will build a winner if he stays there long enough..also holtz built a winner when he was at so. cariolina..

mich. st. had a championship quality team in the 60s .....so i think it's possible.

^ No problem.

Yeah, I agree, if anyone can turn S.C. into a winner, its Spurrier. Holtz did a good job, but not as good as I thought he would.

Maybe Mich. St. is similar to teams in the ACC since 1980 in basketball. Even in their best years, they just can't consistently compete with Duke and UNC.
Spartans are dealing with a tough Big 10 every year and trying to compete consistently with Ohio St. and Michigan. Still, it just seems like it goes deeper than that.

maybe sylvester croom? j/k

if he finds a way to beat auburn next weekend, all of this chatter will disappear.

i think tide fans are dreaming to think petrino would come there. too many from the old guard still call the shots in t-town and that group is above hiring someone with ties to auburn.

also, petrino's style (attitude and coaching philosophy)might ruffle too many feathers from the blue hairs that attend the games at b-d.

He is not going anywhere. As soon as he gets rid of Dave Radar, we will become more efficient. This would kill our program if we went through another coach at this moment. Alabama is headed in the right direction it just takes time to turn around a program. Any fan knows this was supposed to be a down year as next year was supposed to be a huge year. We will steal a game in the next two as Shula will win one big game this year i still believe. We have always played to our opponents capability. I think we JP has a future and has great potential

I should have expressed my opinion a litte bit earlier, I think that if he got rid of Rader a hired an good offensive cordinator (thats calls the plays also), who would be better. I myself think JP will be a better QB than Brodie in this system. Though, if he does this next year with a very good team to say the least, then i think he will be in serious trouble. He has weathered Alabama through a rough storm and he has tremendous character, but does he have what it takes? In the SEC, to be a great coach u have to be more of an CEO... Surrond yourself with great assistents, all the powerhouse SEC schools do it, and I hate to say but nobody better than Auburn.
Shula has a dead duck in Rader and he really needs to let him go!!!!
Well atleast thats my opinion
