Anti-Public Plays! I never want to bet on a public team but chit can I really force myself to bet these teams?

Washington cant protect the quarterback and Parcells can coach circles around Spurrier

Green Bay does not have the history to give me confidence that they can cover the number in the dome.

Pittsburghs secondary makes me want to vomit and Seattle has big play guys.

The Giants may have woken up from their slumber last week, and I am convinced that the Giants have twice the talent then the Jets.

The Rams are just ripping teams up and the 49ers have a wild card in Rattay srating today.

I would love to believe in the Bengals, and I am almost there, but the Bengals and road favorite just doesnt seem to sit right with me.

Houstons defense is just not that great, but of all of these teams I trust the Texans more than any of them because they are scrappy, and Carolina doesnt put a ton of points on the board.

I really think that Oakland will be better this week with a healthy Porter and a fresh quarterback. I cannot trust Detroit at all.

Atlanta is the worst team in the league, and I told myself I woudl never bet them again.

What the hell strategy do I take today? I honestly do not know! If I take these teams and they blow up in my face, I will be pissed!

Holy Chit, man I was just sitting here thinking the same exact thing! I really like Oakland today, but so does everyone else, like the over in TB/NO again so does the whole world, hate to take the sucker bets, I may just pass altoghether today.

Yea....I hate answering to my "newbie" gambling friends why i took a certain team. Example....I took Jacksonville last week when the entire world was on Tennessee. My buddy says....You know Jacksonville sucks right? And I say, yea of course, so he says, then why would you bet them to win? I really could get into a big long sermon about gambling, but instead I am having to eat crow and say...Ya know, I really dont know. This week a similar game is going with Philly and Atlanta, and while the old me would say....Atlanta is the play. The new me may be saying.....Do I really trust this group of idiots? The answer is NO. I am starting to believe that there is still even action on these games no matter what. The sharpies who bet considerably more are contrarian for the most part. The public guys who dabble at 30-100 bucks a game are on public teams and cleaning up. I have kind of altered my ideas......I take a non-consensus team and if they dont make me scared I take em. Example.....the 49ers are getting 5.5 at home against the Rams. Anti-Public...sure! Is it conceivable that the 9ers can win? Of course! So there is my play. Philly and Atlanta...would I be surprised is the Falcons played well in this game with Kurt Kittner and an entire secondary full of second stringers. Hell yes! So I will stay away. Who knows Atlanta may cover....but I aint gonna stick around to find out!

I'd be interested to find out how some other contrarians on this board are dealing with the tough year.

that's how I'm dealing at least, but only in the NFL, I always am able to find a mistake or two in college because there are simply too many games for these guys to focus on and every now and then they try to get cute with a Public Bunny and keep a line real low to reel them all in and then....WHAM!!!! I strike and I strike big!!! It's us (old school, workaholic, pen and paper) versus the oddmakers who are so reliant on technology to formulate their numbers it's disgusting. Many of the handicappers that really look for the BEST betting situations are finding them few and far between nowadays because of the Linemaker's Tech Advantage. But the are humans and humans will always try to test other humans. So mistakes are out there. Just watch the tricky numbers, the ones that seem inconceivable in terms of everyone is betting a certain team yet the number is moving like a turtle or not at all. Or games that move the other direction when you know people are on the other side. Good Luck and sorry to butt into your thread but you guys are discussing the very odds that we are up against and I had to interject. You raise so great points and I thank you for that. I'm not alone in my thinking.
