Only shoes I've ever paid decent money for and had them fall apart. Two pairs (1 black, 1 brown) did the exact same thing. I'll never buy another pair from his shitty line ever again.
Bass shoes used to have a lkifetime warranty. Reeturn for any reason. Since i need 14 e's i can't wear them because they don';t make them. 14 e's are great for stomping on troll heads. U had any quality issues with your Coles. They prob don't make 14 e's either.
You ever get into Exotic skin Cowboy boots ?? Ladies always seem to notice em !! Ostrich. Stingray ??
I've owned two pair but that was back in the 70's and early 80's they were pretty cool. Think they were by Tony Lama, I think?
Big thing for me was you can have them Custom made as to size and skin. Cowtown Boots in Vegas used to make me a few pair every year. Lamas are good but always had size issues.
If one must indulge.... High end and quality. John Fluevog. Period.

Careful, some of their lines are good well made designer shoes. Some of their lower end models are China import crap.
For casual, I like a good pair of Tom's shoes. I have a few different colors. Comfortable and they have a good cause.
For other types of activities, I'll take an Asics cross trainer or a Puma running shoe. I like my Timberlands and Uggs too if it's Winter.
If I dress up, which I don't like to do I can go with many options: Aldo, and other brands I bought in Italy, Czech Republic, etc.
I also like Skechers, Rockport, etc.
Kenneth Coles and Allen Edmonds aren't my cup of tea. I think I've owned one pair of each and never bought them again.

Agree with Cie. Olukai is a finely crafted shoe made in Hawaii. I prefer the Ohana, which I wear March thru November. For the chilly months I go with the Akepa Moc Kohana.:0008
