.........because last night I posted something that was ridiculous -- and now I would like to make ammends to the Forum.
There may be a lesson in here somewhere:
About midnight here on the East Coast, I was looking for a possible 2nd half play in the Seattle-Sacramento game because of the blowout situation (Sonics up by 23 at the half). I could not tune in and get the game on satellite, so I had the scores and stats updated at Yahoo every minute.
Yahoo posted that ALL FIVE starters for the Kings had played the entire first half (no breaks, no substitutions). I tried to do a cut and paste job and post it here, so I could get feedback from the Forum, but couldn't lift the text.
Anyways, I was stunned to see Adelman playing his starters so hard (presumably). So, I expected a fatigue factor to set in and played the Sonics +12 in the 2H.
Sure enough, the Sonics went down by 13 in the 2H and I lost the bet. But what was really troubling to me was that I HAD MADE A BET BASED ON INACCURATE INFORMATION.
I e-mailed Yahoo and let them know that if they are going to bother with stats and scores, to at least try an get the basics right. I don't want to have to worry about the stats being WRONG everytime I check the percentages and numbers.
Let this be a lesson that there IS NO SUBSTITUTE for watching a game. I know a lot of bettors have to rely on the scrolling updates, but as you can see -- that info is NOT always correct.
I'm sorry for posting the remark that the Kings had played all the starters (Hoops set me straight on that)...but it was what I thought was accurate at the time.
From now on, I'll know better.
Thanks,
Nolan Dalla
