I think I know how Michael Corleone must have felt

I've got a bullshit situation to deal with. F stressing me out majorly. Practical solution would just be to move, but my messed up value-system, and my bad temper, may conspire me to take "inappropriate" actions.

A real ********** has moved into the place where I'm renting. Just a house I've been in for a couple of years; rent is great in this over-priced city of Toronto. This prick has rattled my cage and screwed over others who live here (whom I can't avoid feeling some empathy towards, after living with them for awhile -- anyone have a cure for conscience?).

Landlord's F fault. Asshole just got out of jail on an assault charge. Immature, even for 21 years old (no offense to any youngsters), and clearly thinks he invincible. I've called his bluff a few times, when he's pushed me, but I'm getting too old for this chit. Prick is starting to make me feel old, probably for the first time in my life. I'm 35 now, in probably the worst shape of my life, and I'm presently attempting to get my chit together, so to speak, and try to find a strategy for keeping my sanity for whatever time I've got left.

I USED to be closely associated with some bikers. That is the temptation that I face now. Not the "practical" solution, but perhaps the only one that some idiots understand. I hate getting the authorities involved in my problems - not that such is an option so far - as my experiences in dealing with them, in the past, haven't been enjoyable.

Was thinking about the Corleone quote, from III, I think it was:
"Every time I try and get out...they pull me back in"

I'm sick of having to, or being tempted to, deal with useless pricks in such a fashion. My only solution is to move and get away from both prick and temptation. Another problem remains this city itself; the prick per capita level is way to high here ... probably true about any overpopulated city.

Not sure why I wrote this here, though. I guess this was just another temptation, and one that following shouldn't get me into any doghouse. Getting harder and harder to tell these days. Maybe do me some good to get it off my chest (not like I haven't already spoken to some friends and family, if for no other reason than to chill my adrenaline surge).

What the hell.
I've recently given up on ethics, academically.
Now it's time to either seriously dismantle my conscience or else find a nice hole to lock myself into.

This too shall -p-a-s-s- last

wont the landlord do anything if he is hassling all the people around the area....

would think if you talked to the others around you and sent a submission to him....he would have to do something or lose all of your $$

best of luck in the situation

I've talked to the landlord - we're on good terms (she loves the NBA, and I generally can tell her what's happening, even if it is the one major sport I'm clueless about), but she has other things stressing her out right now.

Things semi-exploded tonight. I'm going to have to see what her next move is.

As far as a showdown with clown-boy, I'm not too sure I'd even want to try this guy with a knife in my hands. Probably why I'm so stressed; I won't back down or take BS from this guy, but I'm unable to assess just what risk that might present to life, limb, and property.

Truth hurts, but I guess I'm not used to being "scared" in these types of situations.

EXTRAPOLATER,

Wow man, that is some serious shit. Several thoughts come to my mind.

1. is he part of a gang?
2. what area of Toronto are you in? Parkdale by any chance?

What is he doing that is so disturbing to you, as you seem serious about doing the wrong thing.

also, what's his name? I may have heard of him as one of my cousin's is always in and out of the DON, unfortuantely he is a gangbanger and they just don't know any better. Some of these guys don't give a chit about the law or life it seems. If you're living in the Dundas and Ossington area of Toronto, I could get him under control if he is part of the freddy hamilton gang as my cousin is involved with them, I am ashamed to say it but sadly it is true...

I'm trying to get his FULL name from my landlord; she is so incompetant that she is not quite sure of it. All I know is Kevin, from Regent Park (totally F'ed area, but I have some good friends from there ... some strong F'ers, but "lovers, not fighters," if yaknowhatimean.

He probably hangs with dirt. I've seen just one of his friends here (NOT scared of that P.O.S.).

I know he's 21, has 2 kids (& was married at 16, with mommy's signature, of course). I just know he'll get in my face again, as I'm paid up through July here.

Probably nothing will happen, and I may be overreacting.
I do plan on getting his full name, though, and whatever other info I can on him. My cousin is actually married to a cop, so I may be able to find out what this clown's prior charges were (as he claims he had priors).

I may just be acting a fool about this. This one is a tough call.
I'm probably a little overconfident on my ability to assess people, for integrity & chit. Also rather pissed off about a transaction he screwed me on, but my stupid for trusting him; I took a chance as I was getting pissed at myself for having a hard time trusting people these days.

Like I say ... maybe I'm being silly.
Regardless, I appreciate the concerned responses.
I guess that's why I posted here ... seems to be some very decent folks around. Hard to tell through the net, but I think I'd bet money on it.:D

Hope to meet some of you Toronto folks soon.
Enjoy whatever peace y'all can find.

It sounds to me that your paranoid because your feenin for some smoke right now.

My advise is to avoid the guy, forget about the money you gave him, and find someone else right away that can help you score some dope so you can relax and smoke a fattie and everything will feel better again!!!!;)

No fattie...small bowl...but thank-ya now.
Had to do something in the 4 hours (2-6am) that Rogers cable was futzing around with the lines, or so the overpaid Rogers dude told me.

I could care less about the money, other, or other-chit that has gone missing around here.
Mostly I'm concerned for my own peace of mind. I'm moving. Case Closed.
This dipstick will decide his own fate by his deeds during the duration of his (or my) vicinitation.

Best I could do. Out of practice. Dang connection was-not for the past 14,000 seconds.

If you can find out his name my friend works for the Government in the Landlord and tenents division and he can tell you about the problems this person has had at other buildings so you can see what he is all about.

He can also advise you on what actions can be done without you having to go to any athority to mabey get this guy kicked out instead of you having to leave.

Just a suggestion.

I appreciate the offer, pwine.
I'm just not sure that my rights are that important to any of the housing tribunals in this city; I contacted them about a different concern with this place, and was told people who share a kitchen with the owner of the house are not protected by the landlord & tenants act.
That ALMOST qualified for one of the top 1,000 stupidest things that I'd ever heard. I tried to search for the written version, on-line, and found some confusing regulation that verified what I had been told. Goofiness.

Anyway, I have my own fridge, sink, and such (washroom - thank Hendrix), but I use the main kitchen oven, which buries me on this one.

My back had been bugging me for weeks (not enough Z's, probably), but it's felt great since last night. I'm not going to back down from clown-boy, not that I'm going to start anything.
Trouble is that he'll keep doing whatever he pleases, and no one else here has any bejeezus (including landlord).

Landlord is presently too poor and too incompetant to run this place decently. I've been here 2 years and have felt like chit for the past year-and-a-half. Maybe a change of scenery would be good.

Gonna try and turn this into a positive thing. This turkey is the best thing that could have happened to me right now. He's made me get back in touch with some good contact locals that I've been neglecting, and he's become the last straw for my stay at this funny farm (one very educated person here has tried to argue to me that 9-11 was a CIA operation ... F paranoid schizophrenic or what ... talking to this same turkey about gambling (oops) and he told me that he wouldn't accept my offer of 2-1 on a coin toss ... I was simply trying to explain to him probabilities ... gave me some fantasy about an old-time slot machine that allegedly had a built-in house disadvantage (not his terminology) and the house still cleaned up).
Guy is apparently struggling (no chit) through law school.

I appreciate the words.:)
I'm just gonna try and be cool.
