man every day i'm getting bombarded with mail from royal, youwager and the others. I laugh when i get mail from the books that i've never heard of.

It's a complete waste, I don't read or use the schedules.

Yesterday I had 5 of the same thing from youwager. I haven't played with them in 4 years either and won't go back.

I did call Bodog ONCE from my home phone and now the touts and books are calling my home number and i'm very pissed off about it.

One thing we can do is when you get a obvious mailing from a book, just drop it back into a mailbox. It will be returned to them and they will be charged the extra postage.

PS I will never use a book that emails me, calls me, or mails me. I don't even read it.

So many points to cover. My personal nemesis is BetRoyal. I have never sent them a dime, but they email me 3-4 times a week. I click on Unsubscribe, but the mail won't stop.

BETROYAL - I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH YOU because you guys have been nothing but a pain in the ass.

You guys ever get t shirts in the mail? I've gotten a few as well, at least they are something I can use.
I got a t-shirt from WSEX a year or two ago .... and it arrived C.O.D. I had no idea what it was, but to even see the package I had to pay the postage. I ~thought~ it could be something important. For all I knew I had forgotten money coming to me. Instead I just bought myself advertising for them. F!!!!!!!

a sportsbook would not sell your email to another book.
Sorry Jack, but I disagree. I am hit with mail from all sorts of books I have never dealt with. I signup at one book, and that book has 5 sister books....and they all start emailing me. All basically the same company, many books under one roof. Anyone who direct mails me never sees a cent of my money.

Never heard of Guardian, official looking envelope from Guardian Guarantee Corporation
That's Jim Feist sending you that. That's the only site I've ever heard of them advertised on. If you've ever entered a contest or anything at Feist's site, you're on their list.

A nice little trick I've learned.... if you ever get junk mail with a return postage-paid envelope.... fill that envelope up with junk mail and send it back to them!! Then they get the joy of receiving crap in the mail - and they get to pay for the pleasure of receiving it. I do this with pretty much every return-postage envelope I receive now, regardless of the type of business it is.

(edit) Whoops, I see Scott's already onto this idea too.

The schedules that are sent out are a huge waste of time for the great majority of people. Why do I need another bunch of papers cluttering my desk when I can get online and see when the games are played? When game day comes around, there's usually some time changes anyway.

A great way to prevent email spam from bothering you is to have a DUMMY email address. Sign up with one of the various free emails like hotmail or yahoo and plug that address in whenever you do anything online or over the net. Both have a good block senders/filter option as well. You can quickly scan that email address daily or even weekly, check delete on all the unwanted crap, and go on. Only use your personal email address for friends/coworkers/family, etc people you care about and want to have. When my outlook express shows I have mail, I know it's something worthwhile from somebody I know.

Possibly even worse than the snail mailer sportsbooks/touts are 2 categories. Financial rags about investing and credit card solicitations. The sportsbook stuff usually hits heavy in August and September, but these other guys will fill your mailbox up every year.

I had money to invest in the stock market when I was a senior in highschool back in 1989. I filled out a few forms to get more information/prospectus from several different fund families. To this day, 3 houses later, I STILL get a quarterly mailing from BARON FUNDS. I have NEVER done business with them nor have I updated my home address with them. Why do they keep trying, and how do they keep getting my correct address?? Heck, I don't even know the 4 numbers for my address that come after the zipcode and dash, but somehow that ends up on my mail too. How??
