Rider travels to Loyola today
Rider at Loyola (MD)
WHERE: Reitz Arena, Baltimore
RECORDS: Rider is 16-11 overall and 10-6 in the MAAC, while Loyola is 11-18 and 6-10 in the MAAC.
SERIES: Rider leads the series, 19-13, although the Greyhounds have won two straight and six of the last seven.
LAST MEETING: Loyola won 75-61 in Lawrenceville on Jan. 30.
SCOUTING LOYOLA: Probable starters for the Greyhounds ? Brian Rudolph (soph, guard, 5-11, 7.4 ppg), Jamal Barney (soph, guard, 6-3, 19.1 ppg), Tony Lewis (soph, guard, 6-2, 4.0 ppg), Jawaan Wright (junior, forward, 6-8, 3.6 ppg), Anthony Winbush (freshman, forward, 6-7, 3.0 ppg). ... When these teams met at Rider last month, Barney scored 17 of his game-high 28 points in the second half and junior guard Brett Harvey added 13 of his 18 after the intermission as the tandem equaled the Broncs? output for the half and led Loyola to a 75-61 road win. The Greyhounds shot 52.4 percent (11-21) in the second half and went to the free-throw line 37 times for the game while holding Rider to 10-33 shooting after the intermission (30.3 percent) which included making just one of 11 shots from three-point range (9.1 percent). ... Although Barney (season-high 41 against Canisius) has taken much of the scoring load of late, through 29 games six different players have posted team-high scoring honors thus far.
SCOUTING RIDER: Ryan Thompson leads the Broncs with 17.1 ppg and is tied with Mike Ringgold for the team lead with 6.3 rebounds per game. ... Harris Mansell, the lone senior in the starting lineup, is averaging 12.1 ppg. ... A win over Loyola would all but ensure the Broncs of no worse than a No. 3 seed in the MAAC Tournament, which would mean they could not meet the top seed Siena until the championship game. ... The Broncs? regular season finale is 2 p.m. Sunday against Fairfield.
