I didn't say they did but they do have financial ties. Having been in Korea Kosar you know more about that part of the world so i'll ask if we did indeed invade North Korea would the Chinese get involved or not.

I think it depends on the circumstances of how the war started, but generally speaking I don't think they would get directly involved unless they felt threatened as we advanced towards their border.

If the war started because of an invasion by NK, which is the most likely scenario, there is virtually no chance China would get involved.

When China did step in last time we got real close to there border. And if I remember right word leaked out all those supplies sitting right inside there border. We should take them out. Over the border they came estimate was around 300000. Some general got asked to retire for that little slip up.

Yeah, it was just Douglas MacArthur that got relieved because, for one thing he denied(to his superiors) that China had entered the war against all evidence, and mostly because he insisted on going into China. WW2 was one thing, but he lost it in Korea.

I agree he slipped up. My Uncle told me so many of these china men came over those hills we melted the barrels on our 30 and 50 cal machine guns. Said they could not believe how they just kept running at them taking huge loses. But they did finally make us back up we were caught off guard in some places badly.

The only thing melted were the shoe laces of the Americans and ROKs heading south. They didn't belong there and were poorly equipped. "Backed Up" They left millions of dollars in Vehicles and everything that would make you sick. Even a derelict like Bush would not step one toe across the 38th Paralel. The American military is manned by old men and women who don't want to fight. They have Money, weapons and all the technology in the world but no will. Start a
Military draft ages 18/32 instead of 40 year olds and leave the old folks home. build a 40 foot high wall covering the Canadian border and see what happens All wars would cease immediately.. Sorry!

Thanks for the reply Kosar. Perhaps I am naive but I tend to feel that sometime in my lifetime NK and SK will actually reunify thru peaceful means despite the rhetoric from NK. Do you feel there is any real chance of that within 20-30 years?

Definitely not with Jong-Il in power, as axle mentions. Even without him, I think it's a real longshot for that to happen peacefully.
