i can say i do not know anyone who is under-employed right now. i do know a girl who was let go at a local hospital, but she is already in process of interviewing for similar positions as a pharmacist. i guess things in nola are better than your neck of the woods at the moment:shrug:

So if you know somebody out of work, the economy is getting worse? Awesome logic.

No. Everyone I know is employed and not one of them is "under-employed". Everyone I know that was laid off has found work in their respective profession. The market is definitely down, but I don't know any college educated people doing menial jobs.

I really do understand that you all are gonna toe the company line, but really? Where did the 15 million additional on welfare come from? Did we import them from somewhere?

I'm glad that everyone you all know is doing well. Sadly, that isn't the case for the entire country. Are you telling me people you don't know simply don't matter?

Trampled, it's not that I know someone personally that is out of work that matters, it's the massive numbers across the country that are out of work that matter. I guess it doesn't count if it doesn't directly affect you? I thought you were a strong union guy. Although from what I know of union guys I guess you actually fit right in.

Continue not to care about anyone but yourselves and when unemployment comes your way I hope you can look back at this and see how narrow minded you are.

Out of you and I, only one of us is toeing the company line. You see, I am not a democrat, did not vote for O last time, and will not vote for him in November. Conversely, all u do is spew republican propaganda. I'm not opposed to you expressing your one-sided opinions, but find it comical that you'd accuse me of the same. I'll let you get back to being angry and slamming those who disagree with you:0008

15 Million more, not 1.5 million more. Keep in mind a ton of those 750,00 jobs you think BHO's administration "created" are people who were out of work and now working at McDonalds. That really shouldn't count for much.

Other than that, 15 million more on welfare than when he took office . It's been almost 4 years, how long can you continue to blame Bush? I hated GW, but for crying out loud when should we start seeing results?

I will keep blaming Bush because it is his policies that got us into this mess. Did Obama reverse the Bush Tax cuts? I thought if we cut taxes for the rich they would create jobs? Obama did not reverse those. And still we have unemployment. Not to mention that Bush cut taxes while running two wars he couldn't pay for. Is Obama to blame too? Of course he is. For not reveresing the Bush tax cuts and continuing those two stupid wars.

What company line am I toeing, again? I voted for Gary Johnson and didn't vote for Obama in 2008.

Dumb question: Where did the 15 million more on welfare number come from? I'm asking because I was nosing around and couldn't find it on the government website. Since the US population is growing every year, how does that factor in? How does immigration factor in? I'm asking because that will probably explain a nice chunk of whatever the accurate number is and why I am not hanging out with a bunch of college educated Arby's workers.

For the record, unemployment did come my way in 2007 when my wife was laid off. We "fled" the Detroit area in 2006 when we saw how shitty that economy was starting to get, only to get burned in our new town a year later. Luckily, she found a better job in less than two months and we've been doing fine since. It sucks, but I think you have to be proactive in this type of economy. We moved to a more stable area and I would encourage more people to do the same.....but they won't because they are too stubborn and/or lazy.

StevieD, OBAMACARE, 80+ percent with company provided insurance, now have to worry that their employer will pay the penalty instead of coverage.

Obama put the Kabosh on the economy, self inflected wound that he won't take credit for.
