If OSU wins, they deserve to be in the title game.

I have no dog in this race, so it is going to be fun to read the threads.

OSU is the defending National Champ and if they win, there is no question they deserve a shot at OU.

If LSU wins out and OSU loses(which I think they will, but it is still fun to think, what if!!) then they deserve to go.

USC should be the third team in line. However(SCOTT!!), obviously they have the easiest road and are the odds on favorite to go.

Another thing to ponder. What if OU loses?! I don't think the planets will align in the right order for that to happen, but what if? Should be a great finish.

I agree but that's a big IF.

What's with the New York Times putting USC 5th! C'mon, it's debatable who should #2 or #3 but putting USC at #5 is just plain stupid. Didn't the New York Times rank Notre Dame #1 at some point late last year?

I hate how one poll can skew the whole BCS so easily. The Times seems to have a mind of it's own with this whole thing - which is a shame if it can effect the players in the Sugar Bowl.

I was thinking hard about the situation if Oklahoma went down in the Big 12 title game, and in my mind I think they still deserve the spot on the Sugar Bowl, but unfortunalty would probably get left out. Unless K St blew them out I don't see any reason for them to slip below number two - but the "what have you done for me lately" mentality will come into play here. Let's just hope they win out, I think this OU team is one of the best college teams in recent memory, and deserves a shot to go out with a national title.

This is exactly why I wish some sort of playoff system could be devised. I would like nothing more than seeing USC and OSU square off the same weekend Oklahoma plays in the Big 12 championship. Obviously rules can't be bending for this years circumstance - but this year really looks like it will play out where two or even three teams can make solid claims that they deserve a shot at OU.

I'd have to think financially it would be great for the NCAA - a play in game so to speak between USC and OSU would draw monster numbers, hopefully sometime in the forseable future a solution can be found.

Along that same line of thought, the Big 12 and SEC are at a
huge disadvantage having a championship game, (another
opportunity to get knocked off sometimes having to beat the
same team twice in one year), these other conferences need
to step up to the plate. IMHO

example, Big 10 vs Pac 10 championship
ACC vs Big EAST championship

that scenerio gets closer and closer to a playoff, may be baby
steps, but closer.
