If Spurrier comes back to CFB, will he finally schedule a non league game outside the state of Florida??? In the decade of the 90's he played exactly one non league game outside the state of Florida, '91 AT Syracuse(which he lost).

This guy pulled the wool over peoples eyes for a long time with his refusal to play Miami, refusal to play quality non league opponents besides FSU and the fact he never ever left the state. Even the largest outdoor cocktail party is in Florida.

In '91 he left the state twice, once to 'Cuse where he lost, then his bowl game to ND............which he also lost. He had numerous years where he had to only play 3 and 4 road games a season, yet Stevo was looked upon as practically inventing the game at times.

Sorry, I don't respect cupcake scheduling. And citing the SEC schedule holds to many flaws, like the fact its a 12 teams conference and you invariably miss at least one of the top teams every year, sometimes more, similar to LSU not playing Tennessee this year. SEC is a great league, but the toughening up of the schedule is masked by the fact they dont play at least 3 teams a year in the league.

What I remember about Stevo.............is he was scared to death to play quality teams he wasnt familiar with. Actions speak volumes, he was screaming this!

I think today Spurrier has finally been revealed for what he has been all along: gutless and weak. He chooses to honor 2 years of his 5 year deal. No wonder he couldn't impose any discipline on his players, he has absolutely none himself! And just Sunday he was saying that he realizes that he needs more discipline on the team, but rather than try to make up for his mistakes and right the ship he has chosen to run from adversity. I really feel bad for guys like Jeremiah Trotter, who showed up to play and wanted to win but were held back by a coach who couldn't control the players that seemed to be happy just to take a paycheck and treat practice like their office. The average career of a football player (non-lineman) is like 7-8 seasons. For the guys that played for him these last 2 seasons, he's effectively wasted 25% of their career. And now he just wants to duck his responsibilities and head out of town. If I were Spurrier I wouldn't show my face in Washington ever again. If I were a Redskin fan I don't know how I'd feel: I'd be furious that this POS refuses to show any kind of responsibilit towards honoring the commitment he made but I'd be glad to be rid of his ludicrous "let's play college ball in the NFL" philosophy. What a joke this guy is. I would not want him within 100 miles of my college program. No character or class at all!

You two couldn't be more off about Spurrier. Scott let go of your obsessive hatred towards the SEC. Spurrier atleast has won a national title, more then Pete can say right now.

Pete Carroll and USC in the last 2 years OOC opponents were....

Auburn
@Colorado
@Kansas St
Notre Dame
@Auburn
BYU
Hawaii
@Notre Dame

I think Pete Carroll has earned anybodies respect. An added note, last year Pete Carroll went 11-2 with the #1 toughest schedule. This year Carroll went 11-1 with a completely inexperienced QB and RB's and is playing in the National Championship game against Michigan. Carroll has earned my respect. I do not respect Spurrier (read my post again up top and johnnyonthespot post).

I hate Spurrier as much as anyone but scoreboard is scoreboard - Spurrier has a ring and Carroll doesnt. Hell, my worthless Mack Brown can go 11-1 or 11-2 every year with a toguh schedule and nobody calls him a good coach that I can find. LAst I checked Mack Brown even WON at KState last year while the allegedly great Trojans need to score late to make the score appear closer than the game really was.

PS The Rose Bowl is not the National Championship game - I agree USC got jobbed but posting crap like that only confirms that it is difficult to take your posts as anything but pure homerism. Or did I miss where everyone agreed Michigan gets the title if it wins?

The Tigers and Sooners are playing in the BCS, let me restate, BCS championship game, which is nothing more than a contract generated by ABC to make money.

If you notice, the networks STOPPED saying "the National Championship game," they're saying, "The BCS championship."

USC is not playing in the "contract bowl" rather the Championship game that is recognized by most of the public as well as the longest running, most prestigious college football poll in the country (AP Poll).

3 of USC 4 OOC opponents were bowl teams last year. AU was top 5 pre-season ranked team. Playing @AU and @ND is not easy any year especially opening the year @AU with inexperienced QB and backfield (oh yeah, they were top 5 preseason nationally). Do not make yourself sound stupid. If you read my post, it said SCHEDULING!

You really are clueless arent you? It isnt a championship game if only 1 of the teams can win the championship now is it? - that said I am done with you. Anyone that is that blinded by homerism isnt worth my time. I cant let someone like you mar what to me is the historical greatness that is USC football.

For you information, USC had the ball at the end of the game and was driving down the field to score the tying touchdown. USC senior WR (who i hated) dropped a crucial 1st down pass inside KSU 30 yard line. That guy never made big plays at crucial moments. I think that was far from scoring at the end of the game to make it look closer than it appears. :lol:

The winner of the BCS Title Game will be recognized as the official college football national champion. You can't have a title game where only one team has a chance at winning now can you?

:rolleyes:

Bottom line: USC and Pete Carroll couldn't win against the same team at the same site where Mack Brown and my choking Longhorns won. That pretty much tells us how great last year's SC team was. And Texas only lost 2 games last year too.

Blame the BCS and letting computers decide. Congrats to OU and LSU winner, they will have a split NC if USC beats Michigan. Simple as that.

I have been searching the net everywhere for the historical results of the "AP Poll Title Bowl." Anyone know where I can find them? Also, can anyone find me where a game is considered a championship game where the winner didnt get a championship?tr

After proving you wrong once, this will be my last time i prove you wrong and my last post to you because your posts are worthless to me.

USC lost to KSU, @KSU. KSU was the better team that day. USC WR Mike Williams dropped 5 passes that hit his chest. Not gonna beat a good KSU team @ KSU playing like that. I tip my hat to KSU. USC at the time and season, was not contending for NC. Good thing about Pete Carroll, is his teams get better as the season goes on. USC has "never" lost in the month of November under Pete Carroll. USC last year was the best team in the nation playing the best football at the end of the year. USC this year was not suppose to contend for NC. Like last year, USC team improved as season went on, and are playing the best football in the nation right now. What is pretty scary is next year USC is making a NC run, USC is returning everybody. Carroll is still building at USC, and in the meantime his teams are playing the best football in the nation. YEP, this was a rebuilding year at USC. At the very least, one of the top 3 teams playing the best football at the end of the year the last 2 years. WATCH OUT FOR USC IN THE FUTURE!

Shut up already. The BCS Title Game is the official national championship game in CFB end of story! USC is not involved in it & boohoo they can say they are AP champs but the real overall champion is the BCS Title winner.

No, it is fact.

You can't have a real title game when only one of the two teams has a shot at it.
