yep...totally worthless game

problem is now all the big 12 honks are gonna jump on the bandwagon for conference superiority....

even though i'm a pac-10 guy, i can honestly say that iowa st is no better than arizona and oregon who finished in the bottom half of the conference

I disagree. As long as both teams have a wining record what is so wrong letting finish the year with the reward of a bowl game. It gives the students and alum something to get excited about during the holidays. I personally like having a game on each night. I do not take the elitest attitude that only the the big winners have a chance for a bowl. If you do not like it change the channel. I for one was glad to see Iowa st end on a winning note. Just because it was a low scoring game it is a bad game?

no it was a bad game because it was played between two BAD teams who had a combined record of 12-10 and beat a combined 1 team with a winning record.

the glut of bowl games has led us to this and if the alumni are so excited why are there only 12-20k inattendance at these worthless games?????

Didnt say it was a bad game - I said they were two bad teams. I agree there should be more than 4 bowls, but there also is no reason why every 500 + team gets one.

As for students and alums, I think you probably noticed the attendance.

In theory I am a Big 12 honk and I had ISU, but I havent claimed any great superiority this year. And I am on record here as saying bowl performance cant really be a criteria of such things for various reasons. I do think the league will do well in bowls thanks to the matchups, but the SEC is certainly a stronger league. I would say top half of Big 12 is certianly stronger as a group than Pac 10, bottom half certainly weaker (althought who wouldnt pay to see Baylor v Washington!)

this much i know for sure:

josh betts is awful. for him to be as mediocre as he is with the talent he has on the outside (nance, larkin, and robinson) is just mindboggling. i have not seen him have a good game all season. he obviously wasnt taking good notes when roethlisberger was running the ship. miami easily has the best wr's in the conference and he cant get them the ball consistently.

They nearly won that half only because they didnt have to play Texas or Oklahoma, whereas everyone else in North played one or both.

So you would rather have no football tonight. nd and oreg both were at 6-5. Lets have no football so we do not have to watch these horrid 6-5 teams. To funny. I like the bowl games from the begginning to end. Some of the best games I have ever watched over the years were the lesser bowls. I say let them play and have there fun.

Agree gman! Betts has the ability with the recievers around him to do some damage on the offensive side of the ball. He looked very ordinary tonight and his decision making skills need to be questioned. With a little improvement next year, this team has the ability to be very solid.

whats most ridiculous thing about all of this is that some of the worst games are STILL TO COME. you would think that they could get unc/boston college, navy/new mexico, and alabama/minnesota out of the way before christmas. how is troy state playing anywhere near new years day? how is new mexico playing anywhere near new years?

Amen to the Bear backer. It's very easy, put down the remote, walk away from the T.V. and don't watch these games. Let the rest of the college football junkies enjoy the last month of the game.
