if anyone watched the game, you would be scratching your head with the way the game ended.
60-59 ore after a wazzu bucket 45 secs left
wazzu decides to play defense and oregon hits a shot with 9 seconds left and wazzu calls timeout down 3
the announcers are calling it, ernie kent is screaming it as the teams take the court......WE HAVE 2 FOULS TO GIVE........get to halfcourt and comitt a foul.......what does wazzu do, they inbounds the ball and the player dribbles the ball off his knee, ball goes across the center court line and out of bounds, ore ball?????????
then wazzu fouls on the inbounds pass and ore hits both ft.....again kent is screaming to foul as they still have 2 fouls to give (why, i have no idea as they are up 5 with 7 seconds left) but ore does foul with 4 secs left as wazzu gets to midcourt (again he is still screaming to foul and again i have no idea why as they are up 5 with 4 secs left).....4 secs left and a chance at a push or win with a last shot right?????....no, wazzu throws is directly to oregon on the inbounds and lets the clock run out.
a perplexing last 10 seconds of this game.........not saying the fix was in because the game-spread wasnt what is typical of a fixed game (large fav winning but blowing the cover at the end) but it was a strange ending.
that said......oregon is not a sleeper team in the ncaa tourney......wazzu might be underrated but i still dont believe in them to make a deep run........two sleepers are usc and MAYBE stanford if goods returns from his ankle injury......sc has playmakers in young and pruitt, a shooter in stewart and a defensive stud in taj gibson and floyd has them playing defense........of course i have them at 100-1 so they will be my "sleeper" until they lose
