sooo, in 39 years, since 1977, a team that lost to TB has only played in SB four times? is that right, and apparently they're 0-4?

so out of 39 years, 4 instances? albeit, all 4 lost, for your 100%

why then, like another poster has asked, are you discounting the SAINTS super bowl win in 2009? after they lost to tampa bay in wk 16 - which happens to be the end-all-be-all trend?

YOUR NOT getting the whole gist of losing to Tampa bay

it's way worse than just 3 teams who made it to the bowl ...............

I do not count saints because of two things #1 they benched final 3 games of year
#2 THey were gifted in fina;l vs vikings they never got a flag after giving favrve remember me hits

proof is in the replays run on nfl network maybe up on you tube also

NFL wanted saints to win the win bowl due to destruction from hurricane catrina

BUT after that year saints lost to tamba bay NEVER saw the bowl again

FALCONS are going to lose period.

HERES The actual Defense and offense rankings from full season and it aint even close
Team Ranks

ATL NWE
Home Record 5-3-0 6-2-0
Away Record 6-2-0 8-0-0
Record vs. Spread 10-6-0 13-3-0
Falcons Points Scored 540 (1st) PATS 441 (3rd)

Points Allowed 406 (27th) 250 (1st)

Takeaway Diff. +11 (4th) +12 (3rd)
Pass Yds/Game 295 (3rd) 269 (4th)
Rush Yds/Game 120 (5th) 117 (7th)

Def. Pass Yds/Game 266 FALCONS (28th) 237 (12th)
Def. Rush Yds/Game 104 PATRIOTS (17th) 88 (3rd)

last year Panthers had #1 scoring offense ya saw what happened with them

few years back raiders had #1 scoring offense they got wrecked vs tampa bay #! defense

THE manning Broncos had set records with offense #1 all season long million TD's hardly an inteception

MET up with #1 defense in seahawks who also had top ranked offense Manning o0nly scored 1 td with a 2 point conversion lost game and spread 43-8

Want more with teams who had highest scoring offense that got buried in every superbowl

No NFL team scored as many regular-season points (606) or gained as many yards (6,317) as the Denver Broncos. No team allowed fewer points (213) or yards (4,378) as the Seattle Seahawks. No teams won as many games this season as the Broncos or Seahawks.

When the AFC champions (15-3) and NFC titlists (15-3) clash Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ., it will mark only the second pairing of No. 1 seeds in the Super Bowl in the last 20 years and the first since 1991 to pit the highest-scoring team in the regular season against the team that was scored upon the least.

Who wins such matchups? Before delving into that, let?s examine some research provided by Chase Stuart of Football Perspective.com.

Stuart took Denver?s scoring offense number of 37.9 points (14.5 more than the league average) and subtracted Seattle?s scoring defense number of 14.4 (9.0 better than the league average) The difference of 23.4 is the greatest disparity between any two units in Super Bowl history.

Stuart arrived at his ?greatest disparity? conclusion by examining the offensive and defensive stats of all 96 Super Bowl teams. He found that in only two Super Bowls was there a disparity of at least 20 points.

The second-greatest gap between offenses and defenses was in Super Bowl I (1967) when the NFL?s Green Bay Packers played the American Football League?s Kansas City Chiefs.

Although in different leagues (the NFL and AFL didn?t merge until 1970), the Chiefs came in with the AFL?s No. 1 scoring offense at 32.0 points per game, while the Packers featured the NFL?s No. 1 defense, allowing 11.6. The 20.4 difference is less than the margin between Denver and Seattle (Green Bay won 35-10).

Stuart confined his research strictly to the difference between scoring offenses and scoring defenses, leaving for another day the task of offering commentary on which units prevailed most often.

Turns out, in the 10 Super Bowls with the largest statistical disparities between offenses and defenses, the defensive unit won eight:
Year SB Offense Defense Diff Winner
1966 I Chiefs (32.0) Packers (11.6) 20.4 GB / Defense
1968 III Jets (29.9) Colts (13.4) 19.6 NYJ / Offense
1967 II Raiders (33.4) Packers (14.9) 18.5 GB / Defense
1984 XIX Dolphins (32.1) 49ers (14.2) 17.1 SF / Defense
1971 VI Cowboys (29.0) Dolphins (12.4) 16.6 Dal / Offense
2002 XXXVII Raiders (28.1) Buccaneers (12.3) 15.9 TB / Defense
2007 XLII Patriots (36.8) Giants (21.9) 14.9 NYG / Defense
1991 XXVI Bills (28.6) Redskins (14.0) 14.6 WASH / Defense
1969 IV Vikings (27.1) Chiefs (12.6) 14.4 KC / Defense
2001 XXXVI Rams (31.4) Patriots (17.0) 14.4 NE / Defense

Whether the trend of defenses prevailing continues in Super Bowl XLVIII depends on Seattle?s ability to force turnovers, and the degree to which the Seahawks can keep Manning off the field.

Sunday?s Super Bowl will be the sixth to feature the league?s No. 1 offense vs. its No. 1 defense. The last time, in 1991, was when Buffalo Bills brought to Tampa Stadium an offense averaging 28.6 points behind quarterback Jim Kelly to face a New York Giants defense that allowed 13.2.

Year SB No. 1 Offense No. 1 Defense Result
1966 I Chiefs (32.0) Packers (11.6) Green Bay 35, Kansas City 10
1969 IV Vikings (27.1) Chiefs (12.6) Kansas City 23, Minnesota 7
1978 XIII Cowboys (24.0) Steelers (12.2) Pittsburgh 35, Dallas 31
1984 XIX Dolphins (32.1) 49ers (14.2) San Francisco 38, Miami 16
1989 XXIV 49ers (27.6) Broncos (14.1) San Francisco 55, Denver 10
1990 XXV Bills (26.8) Giants (13.3) New York 20, Buffalo 19
2013 XLVIII Broncos (37.9) Seahawks (14.4) Denver favored by 3 points

The Broncos are the highest-scoring team to reach the Super Bowl, eclipsing by a point the 2007 New England Patriots (36.8) who had a 16-0 regular-season record. But the Patriots scored only 14 points in a 17-14 loss to Eli Manning and the Giants on Super Sunday.

A dozen teams that averaged 30 or more points in the regular season have played in the Super Bowl. Seven lost, most recently the 2011 Patriots, who didn?t come close to their 32.1 average in a 21-17 loss, also to Manning?s Giants.

Of the five 30-point teams that won the Super Bowl ? 1991 Redskins (30.3), 1994 49ers (31.6), 1998 Broncos (31.3), 1999 Rams (32.9), 2009 Saints (31.9) ? only the Rams failed to score 30 on Super Sunday, managing 23 in a 23-16 victory over Tennessee.

While No. 1 defenses have had more success in the Super Bowl than No. 1 offenses, the team with the best rushing offense usually has the advantage. In 47 previous Super Bowls, the team that won the rushing battle won the game 37 times.

The Seahawks allowed 101.6 rushing yards per game this season. The Broncos? Also 101.6.

OK so Falcons lose the bowl i'm guaranteeing Patriots win n cover the 3 points

Falcons are a fraud playoff team they beat an also ran seahwks team who had a tied game plus they lost to tampa bay also then get a busted up Packers team for easy pickins

Patriots struggle with the BEST D in NFL Ranked #1 across the board then chopped up a healthy steelers team 10 X better than Packers or seahawks.

Falcons will be 4th team to loose a bowl after losing to TB

(Rams lost Super Bowl XIV)

(Dolphins lost Super Bowl XVII)

(the 14 pt fav. Rams lost Super Bowl XXXVI)

Falcons LOSE super bowl LI

The only thing I will argue here is that the Steelers were in no way healthy. A decent amount of the team had the flu, LeVeon went out in the 1st quarter, and that's enough to guarantee a win in Foxoboro.

I watched the Falcons offense Sunday. Matty Ice is every bit on top of his game as Brady with better weapons.

With that being said, I don't discount your theory. I truly think this is a pick'em game.

I guess you can insert any team besides Tampa Bay and get 100% losing the super bowl if you can twist it any which way you can. Or maybe Drew Brees was the backup QB in 2009,then I get that they benched the starters as he was 32-37 passing . Can't believe I read as much of this crap as I did:shrug:

They can still beat Green Bay and not win the Super Bowl, Right?
exactly

you guys just dont get it do you when the highest scoring offense in NFL gets to the bowl they all LOST S/U and ATS

as far as the bagle patriots ate i now have to go with them to win this bowl

i showed defesnvie rankings of falcons at 28th Patriots now #1 since they disposed of texans

YES it's funny that team who lost to TB is facing a team that ate a bagel two others ate bagels also

Texans and Rams

BUT NO team hosting the bowl has ever got there either so texans getting shut out isnt that much but we add them to the list of bagel eaters

I also said NO teams with tied game ever won a super bowl all 4 are sitting at home

and Seahawks also lost to TB

NOW if Seattle was home vs falcons we would have rematch bowl seahawks Patriots

and Patriots would win again

it's weird that the team losing to tampa bay meets up with the team that got shut out

BUT YOU all are thinking falcons hang in the number or win s/u are living in fairy tale land

look back at all teams who had the #1 highest scoring offense then got decimated BY the #1 defense squad in the bowl

BRONCOS vs Heavy Fav Panthers ...................

SEAHAWKS vs Favored Mannings Broncos :mj07:

SEAHAWKS with hassel back DOGGED +5 vs top defense ever in history of NFL CRUSHED by Steelers

OMG the 15-1 Vikings decades ago 1st highest scoring offense ever CHOKED in FINALS to Falcons

GOT buried vs Elways Broncos as a 7 1/2 DOG

ya'll talking about saints 2009 winning bowl after losing to tampa bay

well fuck off because in FNALS vs favre's vikings they even said before game we gonna give him remember me hits the refs held flags in pockets while they busted him up and ended his careeer

that game was riggede so saints get to bowl and win to help them rebuild after Katrina

and after that ONE time Team winning after losing to TB they lost every year after that 2010 21011 2012 2013 2014 2015 and 2016 and every year before saints lost to TB they NEVER WON a superbowl

they will never do it again as long as my lifetime exist

the only way curse gets broken ahhhhhh fuck it aint gonna happen falcons lose PATRIOTS super fucking LOCK of ages WIN by two td's plaus

You said months ago if a team lays an egg they have no shot at winning the Super Bowl according to your 60 years worth of notes. if the falcons layed an egg too then you would have room to talk however they didn't. you sound like a dumbass

I also said NO teams with tied game ever won a super bowl all 4 are sitting at home

Worst system EVER

Cardinals and Bengals are sitting at home cuz they suck...Redskins aren't much better. The Seahawks are sitting at home cuz they lost to a better team in the playoffs, has nothing to do with their tied game in week 7

The fact that no team with a tied game has ever won the SB is obviously just a coincidence, nothing more nothing less
