I agree with you 100% DJV.

Someone up there should be smart enough to know regardless of how he tries to court them the minorites, nontax payers, welfare recipients ect have (and will) vote 90%+ democratic regardless of what he does.

Between this and the medicare deal I am beginning to wonder which ticket he is running on.;)

It's pandering for votes time.

How can you propose some grand plan whereby people who broke the law to get in the United States, and then broke the law by obtaining employment, and then broke the law by using false Social Security cards to avoid arrest ... now these people can "earn" a legal status by signing a few documents and promising to follow the law from now on?

We're moving to a point where American citizenship is going to mean nothing. You want to come here to work? Fine! If you decide you don't want to follow our laws, rules and procedures for immigration ... no problem! Just sneak in, behave yourself until the next presidential election, and we'll arrange for some variety of amnesty for you.

Turf--very well said. I am shocked that this approach is being taken. There is no way in hell that this is the right way to solve this problem. I think this will end up hurting Bush in polls because this is not, from my understanding, the Republican view on this issue.

i'm very disappointed in this move that bush is taking. as turfgrass stated this law is rewarding people for breaking the law.

all of the polls taken in the border states clearly shows that the people living in these states are against it, but the politicians just ignore it.

this move, by bush, has really pissed me off that i would vote for somebody else for president. other than lieberman (who will never get the democratic nomination), the candidates running in the democratic primaries have shown me that they don't have a clue on how to handle this terrorism problem.

Been reading different sources on this today and I can't seem to find a straight answer on what this involves. This is an issue that has always perplexed me. Mostly from the standpoint that so many state agencies outright refused to enforce federal law in past.
Will wait an see what lowdown comes of it but from what Im seeing I don't like it. Looks like he going after the centerist vote of the Dems, knowing if Dean gets nomination it will be lucrative area. Agree AR I like Lieberman also but no shot.
You got the Clinton clan supporting Clarke and the radicals Dean.
If Dean gets nomination he will have no choice but to move somewhat to the center "in appearance" but methinks he is not near as slick as others on playing a chameleon.
Thought this was interesting poll out today.
--but prior poll taken prior to this immigration BS.

If you are going to make these ILLEGALS LEGAL, at LEAST make
the Son Of A BITCHES claim the PROPER dependents and PAY
their FAIR SHARE of TAXES, like THE REST OF US....I am so sick
of hiring people who I know are Illegal but bought sufficient
documentation according to my company and claim 12 fricken
dependents because they KNOW no taxes will be taken out,
and KNOW they will never fill out tax forms, and KNOW they
will never be CAUGHT, and if they are, BFD....no taxes taken
out, so NO TAXES ****IN PAID..........:fingerc:

By the way, they can buy a fake SSC and DL for 25$$$...:moon:

I think we should all call our senators and congresspersons, with the following :

You want them eligible for social security?, fine you guys roll your retirement plan into social security and join the rest of the country and fix it while you are at it.;)

See DJV, we don't disagree on everything....the fact of the
matter is, the is nothing more than a pro business move to
futher stimulate the economy, take pressures off the business
hiring restrictions, legal implications, federal lawsuits, etc....
which quite franckly doesn't bother me as long as these people
start paying their fare share like the rest of us English speaking
Americans....but what really chaps my ass is why doesn't Bush
abolish Workmen's Comp so business can ****ing exist...

Salty Dog I see one of the main reason they have to do this is no American workers will take these jobs. Well instead of just saying that. Why don't we find out if that is true. And if true why. Is it working conditions. Is it pay so low your better of on unemployment. Are workers right to work rules being followed. I think this, no one from America will work these jobs. Is another cop out. Theres no way they can tell me there are over 8 million jobs in this country. And no Americans will take them. Big Bag Of BS.
And your right on the deductions. The ilegals should be able to use 1 only.
