First of all, my heart felt appreciation goes out for all the well wishes I received last week while in the hospital. I am truly humbled by the outpouring of good will by the MJ community. Also, I want to publicly thank Mrs. Rattler for going above and beyond the call of duty and posting my games last week.
On to the games:
Ravens M/L L
The Ravens are banged up, especially in their secondary. They start today's game with only 3 corner backs healthy and a safety that will play corner. Looking at this at face value is alarming especially considering the way the Steelers just passed the ball at will against the Colts. Those of us that have been around the block know not to put too much consideration into what happened last week. Throw last week out and look at the 2 teams.
The Steelers have given up close to 400 yards per game in all 4 of their home games this year. Defensively, they are 21st in points allowed (24.5). The Ravens and Joe Flacco can exploit the Steelers defense by establishing the run and setting up the play action. The Steelers are 2nd to last in the league in 20+ yard plays allowed. That plays into Flacco's strength. Also, Owen Daniels should be playing today. Flacco is a different QB when he has a reliable TE to go to. Defensively, the Ravens are 2nd in the league in points given up (16.4), Big Ben will not have such an easy day of it today with Suggs and Dumerville breathing down his neck all day.
2 keys to the Ravens winning today. The Ravens front 7 must pressure Roethlisburger. When he has time to throw, he will pick anyone apart. When he is pressured, he is ripe to be picked. Secondly is turnovers. The Ravens have 2 or more turnovers in 3 games this year, going 0-3 in those game. When the Ravens give up 1 or fewer turnovers, they are a perfect 5-0. The emphasis all week in practice this week was for the Ravens offense was to prevent turnovers. Gary Kubiak drilled the shit out of the offense to eliminate the giveaways.
I fully expect the Ravens "A" game tonight. Despite how poorly they played last week they still should have won the game if not for "a ballsy call" by an officially on an offensive pass interference call. This of course will be a tight, physical game, but the Ravens, I believe find a way to win in the face of possibly being in last place in the AFC North
**Back shortly with the early card.
