it shouldnt be when you lose

tell that to the mid 93 (?) nd team that beat fsu, then lost to bc the following week......only to see fsu get into the title game

apparently that year it did matter when you lost.....it would be like osu losing next week to iowa, only to see mich get invited to the title game.

Well, that situation was a little different. There was no title game then, so when ND beat FSU they switched places. But then when ND lost the next week the polls had no choice but to drop them down. FSU was already locked into their bowl game because of the conference commitment. Had the system worked like it does now, there absolutely would have been a rematch.

Frankly, they are going to have to drop Michigan down to 3 or 4 in the polls to force them out of the #2 spot in the BCS. And I don't think they should drop, because when you are #2 and you play at #1 and lose a close game you have proven that you still deserve to be #2; no higher and no lower. And, btw if you look at my banner you can see I am no Michigan fan.

Is that why the BCS was implemented? To avoid situations like that, not repeat them?

IMO, unless USC runs the table, Michigan should get another chance, Those were the best 2 teams in the country right there.

On a side note, Florida romps next week. How bad we have gotten.

I want a playoff, but I know its not happening.

I think all conferences should be required to have a conf. champ. game. That would help to somewhat level the playing field. I think you should have to win your conf. to play in the BCS title game.

Look at the Big 10. What about Wisconsin? They played a horrible schedule like Michigan but didnt get to play Ohio State. If they could play and beat OhioSt, then they'd have a share of the conf.

You need to have every conference in Div 1 have 2 divisions and a champ. game. You also need to have every team in Div 1 play in a conference.

So, Notre Dame needs to join the Big 10. Army and Navy should both prob. go to 1-AA.

why does the pac-10 need a champ game?

every team plays every team......the conf champ is clearly defined.

the conf champ games are a joke and were designed to produce money, not true conf champions.
