"If you sit we'll tax your seat and if you walk we'll tax your feet-I'm the tax man"

Little wonder NY and Chicago are two cities losing population yearly--

New Yorks answer to their growing deficit.
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local...gov_david_paterson_unveils_dire_new_york.html

and additional items the state is considering raising fees and taxes on:

An "iPod tax" that charges state and local sales tax for "digitally delivered entertainment services" - in other words, that new Beyonce song you download.
State sales tax at movie theaters, sporting events, taxis, buses, limousines and cable and satellite TV and radio.
Costlier driving with the repeal of the 8-cents-per-gallon sales tax cap on motor and diesel motor fuel, plus and increase in the auto rental tax.
Tuition increases at SUNY and CUNY, $620 and $600 a year respectively.
A 50 cent tax on cigars. The current tax is equal to 37% of the wholesale price, or 34 cents a cigar.
No more sales tax break on clothes and shoes worth $110 or less, except during two weeks a year.
Higher taxes on wine, beer and flavored malt beverages. He would also impose an 18% tax on non-nutritional drinks like soda.
The rich would pay more for luxury items through an additional 5% tax imposed on cars costing more than $60,000, aircraft costing more than $500,000, yachts costing at least $200,000 and jewelry and furs costing in excess of $20,000.
In addition, a host of a fees, including those related to motor vehicle licensing and registration, parks and auto insurance, would go up, as would various state-imposed fines.

i wonder which party controls these states?...i`m not talking governor...i`m talking the city councils in the major metropolitan areas...the political machines....

we all know...yet they keep getting elected time after time...

hard working people are overwhelmed by idiotic, brainwashed students, illegals and those looking for a freebie......

check this....

http://www.myfoxdc.com/myfox/pages/...n=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1

a 37 member team of doctors and staff have been rehearsing this for weeks?....wonder why this woman was here?...anybody care to venture a guess?...

i wonder who pays for this?....i do know governor "o`malley"(f-ck him)is furloughing state workers as we speak...

yet he`s giving out driver`s licenses to illegals like they`re candy...property taxes and energy are so high in maryland it`s ridiculous...and this comes after o`malley instituted the largest group of tax increases in state history...

fools..

Are there compelling reasons for a business/corporation to move into NY? I have no clue. But if the state is not set up to embrace businesses, there will more than likely be no trickle down.

TN and Nashville are getting pretty good at attracting new corps. through incentives. If there is no trickle down here, then your point is very valid.

Dogs, you have to take this "population decrease" thing a little deeper. I'm the last guy to defend this city and it's corrupt mayor as you are well aware. Chicago may be losing population but IT IS becoming home to a great many people with bucks and no kids. Dogs but no kids. They are called "Yuppies". Now, when they hit their mid/late 40's some are seemingly all about giving birth to one possibly two. The population may be dropping but the tax base moneywise isn't.

You're not going to tell Dogs about Chicago - he's the expert.

Just hit the new Sonic out this way!! So happy they finally made it. Once we get a Waffle House in this area, there may not be any credible reason to ever go south of Blue Island. Ever. Except to go to Florida

it`s in the low 30`s in my locale.....i`m in walgreens and everybody`s bundled to the neck in warm clothing...

and in walk "muffy" and "todd" with flip flops on talking as loudly as possible on cell phones.......practically yelling...

i really wanted to take todd`s manbag away from him and dummy muffy in the back of the head with it...

fortunately, i realized that todd and muffy weren`t quite cooked yet...

Not an expert Bobby--just have a little common sense.

To believe it was because of yuppie movement I would have to believe that only Illinois has saw this movement of fewer children when in fact it's a national trend and hasn't caused migration "out of dodge" in other states.
---also I'd have to totally discount the poverty factor--

By The Associated Press

CHICAGO -- Illinois has about 724,000 residents living in what experts call "deep poverty," the highest rate in the Midwest, according to a recent report.

Deep poverty is defined as a family of four living on $9,675 or less per year.

The number of people living in deep poverty has spiked in the six-county Chicagoland area since 2000, according to the U.S. Census, the 2004 Community Survey and the 2006 Report on Illinois Poverty by the bipartisan Heartland Alliance.

McHenry County has shown the sharpest increase, up 81.7 percent from 2000 to 2004, followed by Kane County at 77.8 percent.

Though Illinois has the fifth-largest economy in the country, it also has the highest poverty rate in the Midwest. Those living in deep poverty account for 5.8 percent of the state's population, figures show, followed by 5.5 percent in Michigan and 4.6 percent in Ohio.

The increase in poverty in recent years can be attributed to cuts in social services, the loss of 225,000 manufacturing jobs since 1990 and increasing housing costs, according to the Heartland Alliance report.

On one hand it is amazing that this idiot is still in power. On the other, it is not surprising due to the overwhelming majority of idiots that live there.
