Imac Dvd Question

I AM WORKING ON AN IMAC AND I HAVE RUN INTO A PROBLEM....

I PUT SOMETHING FROM A DV PLAYER ONTO MY IMAC AND BURNED IT ONTO THE DVD BUT WHEN I PUT IT INTO THE PLAYER IT WONT RECOGNIZE OR SEE IT??

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?

Let me see if I got this straight.
You put a DVD you purchased at a store (let's say the movie "Help") into your iMac and somehow copied it onto your hard drive.

You then took Help out of the DVD player and inserted a blank DVD and burned the copy of Help from the HD onto the blank DVD.

And now the Help-copy won't play.

Is that what you are saying???

Is your IMac missing any DVD decoders (i.e. software required to play any DVDs)???

And, most dvds, and a lot of audio cds now, include a fragmented "glitch" at the beginning of the disc which prevents computers from reading them, and thus, copying them. If that is the case you could use a good dvd ripper to remove the macrovision (the most common encryption scheme) protection and then any decent quality dvd copying or manufacturing software should be able to assemble the files into a playable dvd.

THIS IS THE STORY

I FILMED VIDEO ON MY DV (DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA) AND THEN I PUT IT ON MY IMAC DESKTOP. THEN I TRIED BURNING IT ONTO A DVD, AND THEN PUT IT INTO A DVD PLAYER AND IT WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE IT. I WAS NOT BURNING MOVIES.
I JUST TRIED GETTING THROUGH IT AND IT SAID I NEED IDVD VERSION 3.0 OR HIGHER TO "CREATE" SO THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM BUT NOT SURE. I
