Holtz said tonight that 5th year senior QB Dondrial Pinkins (DP) will not be starting this week against USF due to a bruised shoulder. DP hasn't been able to throw all week and will probably play only if absolutely necessary.

True Sophomore Sevelle "Cadillac" Newton will be getting the starting nod in place of DP. Sevelle is a very similar type quarterback to DP in that he is very athletic and will run first and pass second. I think S. Carolina will have a very hard time moving the ball with Sevelle under center. This will be Sevelle's first start ever at QB for S. Carolina.

If Sevelle doesn't get the job done and DP can't play, Lou will then look to either RS FR Blake Mitchell (drop back passer) or senior juco transfer Mike Rathe (drop back passer).

I actually don't have any idea what USF has for an offense, I only know that S. Carolina had a lot of trouble moving the football against UGA with DP at the helm, so one can only surmise that S. Carolina may again have trouble moving the ball with a soph QB getting his first start. Our D outscored our O last week 9-7, what does that tell you?

Granted UGA "overall" has a better quality D than USF, although USF is supposedly very good against the run, which S. Carolina should be doing a lot of this weekend. Sevelle has thrown all of two passes this year.

My post wasn't for an opinion either way, just for info for those outside of SC that didn't hear the news.

PS- WR Noah Whitesides, WR Travis Lee and DB Ty Erving should be back with the team this week vs. USF after being suspended last week as I first reported last Friday. Also, super soph RB Demetris Summers will NOT be playing this week b/c of a high ankle sprain. However, Soph RB Cory Boyd is a very capable backup along with Gonzie Gray & Daccus Thurmond.

USC Gamecock--

Any thoughts on the USC-Ole Miss game? I think 16.5 is too much with Lou Holtz's crappy offense. The defense, however, is much better than you lead many of us to believe with your earlier posts. How about some inside info to make up for some of those past miscalculations.

Hammer,

If you want some "inside" info why don't you ask the player working in your office? Don't come on here and try to stir up crap when you know I'm going to see your sorry ass at the game this Saturday. No mexican dip for you fool. Also, why aren't you posting under your old handle "roll wave", oh yea, you got banned under that name. See, don't mess with me LB.

As far as S. Carolina goes, their defense is greatly improved with the additions of Rick Minter at DC and Ron Cooper at DB coach. Much better than I expected. Svelle has also played much better than anticipated. Can he give us a repeat performance of the USF game, who knows...all I know is that S. Carolina will win on Saturday, it's only a matter of by how much.
