For those reviewing head to head match up between these two teams...PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:

Pittsburgh had just played Atlanta through 5 emotional quarters the week previous to that game. IMHO throw out the stats to that game.

Steelers win this SU

With all due respect.................Yes, Pitt was coming off a overtime tie with atlanta .........they blew a 34-17 lead in the fourth quarter. Also Tenn had to also play the week before against Houston. Last weeks game against Cleveland had to be more emotional than a regular season game. So if Pitt was tired emotionally and physically after Atlanta then I would think they would be spent after last weeks game.

Well, now they're coming off a 18 point comeback in which their whole season hung in the balance. Arguably even more emotional than the Atlanta game. And 6 days rest.

There's a few guys around here that seem real confident in the Steelers this week. This is a team that really only beat one good team this year and lost by double digits to most every other good team they played.

Is it just because they're the steelers? I really can't look at this matchup and see what makes people so confident. They're not going to be able to run the ball, or stop the pass. I'm not saying TENN is a lock or anything, but what's with all the confidence in the Steelers?

They've been a real classic playoff choker since Cowher took over and probably should have lost last week.

Tenn wins 9 of their last 10, they're at home, and people are here picking Steelers outright.

At least give some reasons.

Steelers

Steelers

The Steelers secondary make Kelly Holcomb look like a HOF'er. Bring it! A rested and practiced Mcnair is drooling.
Nashville is on fire about this game, it's the lead news story, it's Titan mania around here. Jeff Fisher always coaches the same game. The first 20 (scripted) plays will include more passes than runs, look for them to go deep quick and run out the lead with a pound'em into the ground attack in the 4th qtr. Jeff will also install 2-4 "trick" or "deception" plays every game. The only thing Jeff does different is forgetting to shave.

I'll try, and in no way am I saying Pittsburgh will win outright, though I am leaning that way:

Pittsburghs offense moved the ball all game last week, not just in the fourth quarter, costly turnovers in Clevelands half of the field made the first half look worse that it really should have been, and this is the reason I hesitate to pull the trigger on the Steelers, those dreaded turnovers. You just don't know if it's "touchdown Tommy" or Turnover Tommy" on the field.

The Titans defense is just as banged up as Pittsburghs, and in the previous match up Kendrell Bell did not play, he is expected to play this time, but how healthy is he really?

Nobody can run the ball on Pittsburgh, certainally not a broken down Eddie George, so the Titans will do what everybody else has, spread the field and throw the ball, with Dyson out I really don't think Tenn has the recievers that Cleveland has, but again, will that make a difference against a WEAK secondary?

Pittsburgh, all season, seems to come to play only when it matters, even against Tampa Bay when they felt they had the game won they threw it into cruise control, cause for concern if they get a lead Saturday in my opinion.

This game actually looks like more of a toss-up than backers for either side want to admit, unfortunaly for handicappers I think this game will come down to things you really can't handicap, things like turnovers (though I would favor Tenn in that catagory), special teams big plays, and perhaps mostly coaching. This game could turn into a slugfest rather quickly, maybe the OVER is worth looking into?

banged up?

banged up?

The Titans have had a week to heal thier wounds. Kelly Holcomb's HOF preformance shows the Steelers to be weak in the secondary.

The Steelers have the best run defense in the NFL. The Titans had success running the ball against the Steelers earlier this year. They ran the ball 40 times and pounded them into submission in the 4th qtr.

Turnovers are turnovers, they are hard to measure. Over the season the Steelers have lost 10 fumbles, Titans only 7. Interceptions Thrown: Steelers 22, Titans only 15. Add'em together Steelers gave away the ball 32 times vs. the 22 of the Titans.

That is your difference;)

Blazer, you may very well be correct, I'm just saying I don't think this game is as cut and dry as some people are making it out to be. I see poeple sold out on both sides and I just don't see how you could make a case for a landslide victory for either team. You are correct Tenn did run the ball against Pitt, but that was without Kendrell Bell who makes a LARGE difference. Should be an interesting game that could hinge on one big play.

It was definitely closer than I thought and steelers could have won it outright.

All I can really say by way of excuse is that points off turnovers was 20-7 in favor of Pitt. E. George just doesn't fumble twice in a game.

Kudos to PITT backers. Hope you took the points.

After watching Miami/OSU play that thriller and then watching this piece of crap, you really have to start making a cry for a better method of handling ties in the pros. If this was the superbowl, it would have been a travesty for it to end this way. Whoever won teh toss was going to win this one, and you just knew it.

Great Game

Great Game

I went to the game and I'm still horse (Monday). The key was turnovers. Tenn. gave Pitt thier points with favorible field position. Otherwise the Titans should of covered.
Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda....congrats those who took the points, your a little richer than I today. ;)

I had Pittsburgh + The points, but TENNESSEE could have covered also. Both teams were walking "Mash Units " before and after the game.

I must say there was a high degree of brutality in this game from both sides. Hitting was hard..anxieties too. Would have been a tough loss for either team. Both teams played a hard game.

I wonder about the Oakland game coming up against Tennessee.
Oakland had a much easier game against a visibly nervous Jet team and quarterback. It looked like the Jets knew the roof was going to cave in on them before it was over. So when the time came Oakland easily put them away.

I'm just wondering will that be the case with Tennessee? Or does Oakland walk all over them too?
