It was a joke. With all that is going on in Rap, Sharpton and Jackson have nothing better to do. Not a great fan of Imus, I feel he makes fun of fat people too much, but really with all the killings and the gangsta lifestyle Sharpton and Jackson and all the so-called black leaders complain about this?

Well then, rhyme us son
You have two free weeks
so entertain us freaks
we know the crap you said
but we nappy head
so don't talk and confuse us
just rap and amuse us

it's time to show us
So, git wit it Don
Or you be gone!"

Simple I-man met a pieman going to the fair;
Said Simple I-man to the pieman "Are you from New Jersey?"
Said the pieman to Simple I-man "Yes, but you are banned!"
Said Simple I-man to the pieman, "I know. My hour is at hand"

I watch the old bastard everyday.

The shows theme is "were not happy till your not happy"

I like the show because he has the best guests on and they make fun of each other and other groups of people.

The joke was stupid, but was meant as a joke, get over it.

If you don't like him change the channel.

He has done more for sick kids and cancer than Sharpton and Jackson would ever think about doing. Sharpton sickens me because this is all about ratings for him. If he was really concerned why did he have imus on his show and go on cnn before he even bothered to contact the rutgers women team.

Imus has apologized enough, he has been attempting to apologize to the Rutgers women team than that should be it. He will serve his suspension and his punishment should be over.

Has the "reverend" al ever apologized for the Tawana Brawley case??

I do not consider myself a racist if anything i am a pussy tree hugging liberal but this whole thing sickens me. It is none of my business but if Sharpton is serious about changing the racial tones in this country than he needs to worry about starting with his own people. Rap music uses derogatory language about african americans and women. This in my opinion is a bigger problem because of the target audience of young african american men and more importantly young white men.

I'd guess I have to consider myself a racist.

Honestly, I'm white and have some very good black friends, but to be honest when I'm walking to my car at night and there is just one other person waking around and he's black the first thing I think about is getting mugged.

I don't mean to think that way and am not sure why I do, I have had no bad experience to lead me to think like that, I just do.

Having said that I think he was out of line, apolagize (which he did) and move on.

I thought the interview with Sharpton was funny when he asked AL if he was crazy, I think we all know the answer to that.

I think there are more important things in this country to worry about than this bullsh it. Hated seeing this being the top story on the local news today.

Is the good Reverend Shithead gonna run to Imus and guide him through this dark hour like he did for the cokehead comedian? Maybe Imus hasn't yet offered the figure$$ of sorriness.

There is a good conversation on this issue (far more in-depth) in the Political forum, if anyone cares. Short opinion, the comments were outrageously inappropriate, and the decision regarding Imus staying on the air, whatever, lies squarely with his bosses to determine. I don't feel that he should be fired at face value, but probably would consider it if I was his boss. There is a line of common sense for outlandish commentary on the public airwaves, and "Nappy Headed Ho's" to describe a group of black women pretty much tramples over that one, in my opinion. It shouldn't be acceptable, and it sure isn't very funny.

Does anyone else find it funny that the comment everyone seems to be focusing on is the "nappy headed" comment? I don't think I've heard one mention of people being outraged about the "ho's" part. So apparently it's ok to call women you don't even know whores but if you make a perceived derogatory comment about their race is off to the gallows with you? And when you listen to the interview, the guy that Imus was talking to actually said "those are some hardcore ho's" before Imus said what he said. I haven't heard one person complain about the other guy calling them whores. If I was those women I think I would be more offended by that. Just my .02...

I remarked that I was offended by it in the political forum. That was my point, more than the racial component of it.

Rutgers ladies players will forever be known as them nappy headed ho's wether you like it or not.
They all should sue like Richard Jewel did and that includes Rutgers University.

Lou Dobbs had JJ and some two other outraged on last night ... Dobbs did make a good pt. about what does JJ and others do about rappers saying HO and demeaning women 24/7 ... that kinda staggered the outraged trio ... Dobbs was not defending Imus but he compared it to other wrong doings at one juncture...

Imus makes lotsa wild comments for shock and laughs, problem is this is a toxic topic and you cant swim thru anthrax ... I've worked with minorities all my life and hate racism as much as anyone, but JJ has never been an idol of mine

lotsa ways to look at this, sad comments by Imus and i feel badly for Rutgers women if they were truly hurt by it, I would like to hear the players individual comments.
