In all honesty, you know why Trump is President, right?

I try to avoid posting in this forum because the Republican backers, for the most part, come off as not too bright and the Democrat backers are insufferable in their denial.

I get the feeling Republicans think Trump won because he was the right guy for the job  Trump is nowhere near the right guy for the job, AINEC.

Democrats think Trump won because Republican are all idiots, bigots and homophobes. Wrong.

You both could not be further from correct. Trump is President for ONE reason and one reason only. The Democrats, in their infinite arrogance, ran Hillary. Hillary was the one candidate on the planet that Republicans just couldn't stomach and came out in droves NOT to vote for Trump, but to vote against Hillary.

The Dems decided to shove the biggest piece of garbage they could down the throats of Republicans and finally went too far. As much as Democrats expect the right wing to accept their agenda of tolerance the left needs to realize there are still enough people out there with traditional values. You expect us to respect your ideas but you won't respect ours. Typically the right sits back and takes it's beating but this time you pushed too far and ran a candidate that would have been the end of every traditional value left in the country and enough was finally enough. You pushed thing too far.

Personally, I voted for neither, but I am certain had the Dems ran ANY other candidate we would not be in the position we are now. Had Biden ran, landslide. Had Bernie got the nod, landslide. Pretty much ANY Democrat could have ran and slaughtered Trump EXCEPT the one you all chose.

We know Trump is a trainwreck, well, most of us do. The problem is sometimes you have to fight back against the bully even when you know it's gonna end up in you getting your ass kicked, but eventually you can't sit back and take it anymore.

Republicans did not put Trump in office, Democratic intolerance and arrogance did. So do us a favor, take just one small step back towards the middle and give us a better option in four years so this exact scenario does not happen again.

This is pretty much in line with how I see things too. And I suspect that the next president and many after that will go back to being traditional politicians with professional/polished forms of corruption that we will eat up for a while.

If Democrats had run anybody else, Trump probably loses. Frankly both candidates were the worst possible choices, but somebody had to win.

What will be interesting is how Trump voters feel a year or two down the road. His "approval ratings" will have a significant impact on his ability to do his crazy shit, and more importantly will effect mid-term congressional elections etc.

Sad thing is a few of the things Trump might actually push through are things I support, and they are things no established politician would ever risk doing. I LIKE the outsider candidate, the Jesse Ventura's, the Arnold Schwarzenegger's, the Al Franken's because they are less beholden to the political machines that usually run things. But man Trump is such a train-wreck of a personality.

Al Franken to Maher: GOP senators privately express ?great concern? about Trump?s temperament

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) said Friday night that his Republican Senate colleagues privately express ?great concern? about President Trump's temperament, and he joked about the GOP eventually impeaching Trump.

Appearing on ?Real Time with Bill Maher,? Maher asked Franken what Republicans really say behind closed doors.

Franken joked: ?Well, there's a range in what they'll say, and some will say that he's not right mentally. And some are harsher.?

?No, no. That's not fair. That was cheap,? he continued. ?There are some who I guess don't talk to me.?

Franken then got a bit more serious.

?I haven't heard a lot of good things, and I've heard great concern about the president's temperament,? he said.

Maher responded: ?That's very diplomatic of you.?

To which Franken said with a smile: ?Not very, was it? I don't think this was diplomatic, but I'll take it.?

Franken isn't the first Democrat to say Republicans senators are privately fretting. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) has said his GOP colleagues privately worry about Trump's ?incompetence? and ?ethics.?

Franken, whose profile is rising as a Trump antagonist and who has even gotten some 2020 buzz, was also asked about whether impeachment proceedings might be brought against Trump.

Franken's (apparently joking?) response:

?Let me remind you again that Republicans are in the majority. So I think it'll be ? it's months and months away.?

(For the record, Article 2, Section 4 of the Constitution says: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. )

:0002 demorats don't have a chance in hell in 2020 if Trump keeps up what he has done so far., he gets an A++++++ so far

Trump will likely not run and certainly will not win in 2020. You will see the exact opposite of what happened in 2016, complacent Democrats who thought Hillary was unbeatable will flock to the polls to make sure something like this doesn't happen again and in all honesty I don't think the Republicans will come out in that many numbers twice in a row.

The Democrats will win in 2020, I just hope they learned from this disaster and choose a candidate everyone can live with, unlike what they tried to pull with Hillary.
