I will break my summer posting ban for one of the good guys here. There are many of us here that have had some background in education and have retired somewhat young. I know that BG Falcon is also getting close himself.

If Hawkeye and I can do it, should be a breeze for you.

Many congrats !! Enjoy!! :toast:

TWO DAYS TO GO :11jackson

As I reflect on the many hours spent with the students over the years I must say I am most proud of the success of the fitness levels and the positive self image instilled at an early age. In this day and age of alarming stats of chilhood diabetes, heart disease and childhood obesity i will say emphatically that my classes kept those staggering numbers from being even higher. A very high percentage of my students acquired a love for running from the very beginning. Our school had a partnership with the YMCA in a program called the 'Mileage Club' and would have loved nothing more than making it a year round activity had it not been for the cold midwest winters.

I am proud to say that four state individual cross country running champions got their start to successful careers in my classes, three state cross country team championships (2 boys and 1 girls), one team that finishied third in the state with all five of the runners coming from my classes, and countless medal winners at state in both cross country and track :00x23 There have been at least a dozen who pursued college carreers with the assistance of scholarships they were given for their excellence in chasing down their foes over the hills and expansive grass fields.

In addition my classes have produced state champions (or members of the team) in soccer, bowling (3 state champs ... but not directly from my help ;)) state champ in the long jump, volleyball champs (2 students received full rides), basketball teams in the state quarter finals, and so much more that my forgetful brain cannot recall at the moment.

One memory I can recall is one of my third grade boy (8 years old) running the mile in 5'32" :142hail: Who knows what he could have done with that talent. His dominance at such an early age didn't go unnoticed but his athletic talent coupled with his cardiovascular endurance led him to a full ride in soccer. His (would have been) cross country coach at high school still has scars from the flow of tears running down his cheeks :0026 from missing out on that opportunity. Right now I have a fourth grade girl who has all the tools to become one of my greatest ever. She will have coaches drooling for years to come :jump: :0034

With all this free time about to become a part of my new life, who knows ?? I may take up golfing again  It's been over 30 years since I've walked the fairways (actualy the roughs) :mj07: This is no Dunclock story :wall: But after watching Joker's video of Nole .... I think I can eventually be competitive.

j/k Nole. You are one of the Madjackers I would like to meet some day :0074 Every golf outing has coincided with fishing trips so far but maybe one of those get-togethers will find me throwing down a few crowns with the party animals :toast:
