the GOP takes stinging losses this election cycle it may be the best thing that has happened for that party in along time. This will allow the GOP to possibly get back to their net roots and stop the pandering to the extremists on the right. Many of the basic core beliefs of the GOP party are solid beliefs especially the financial ones, but they cannot keep veering to the extreme right and expect to get the vote of the middle class. The GOP will need to change some of their platforms to at least come somewhat to the center if they plan to rebound quickly.

Were all entilted to our opinions, and my opinion is that the vast majority of DEMS do not cater to the extreme left. To answer your question AR, yes I think a certain faction of the DEM party is more mainstream for example Heath Shuler. I also think the guy from Nebraska fr the GOP is very close to the center. At one time McCain was a centerist or consensus builder, but in order to get the GOP nod he had to sell his sole to the likes of people whom he has vast differences with.

I think the Republicans are too centrist for the majority of the racist hillbilly fucks in this country. Most rednecks, besides joining the KKK if it was still around, wish that we would have armed soldiers at the border shooting dead every illlegal who tried to get through. They also, deep down inside, wish all churches besides Christian, and maybe some jewish ones, would be outlawed, because they really think that Muslims and new age religions are the incarnation of satan. Roe Vs Wade would be overturned, and we would go back to learning the earth is 6k years old and dinosaur either coexisted with people or God put the bones here to test our faith. It's those kind of people that hate bush because he, well, isn't hardcore enough to meet hteir standards.

I generally agree with your thinking but not here. I believe Obama will win in a landslide or at the very least decisively. The next 4 years will be very rough economically and since corporate america will not back him I see him as a one term president (unless the unmentionable happens).

In southern Ohio aka repulicanville central, there is such a strong backing for Romney its insane. No one likes McCain down here. They love the extreme right wing wacko Mitt man and see him as the winner in 2012. I think the republican party swings out further to the right with the religous base pumping Romney very hard. Look out if that happens.

Totally agree that a loss will make them return to their roots of small and limited government.

All current republicans care about, as I see it, is religion, secretive power, and corporations. Screw those, and get back to the middle class and small business-person common sense. Low taxes, low spending, government out of our lives. etc.

I'd probably vote republican if they did that.

As a fiscal conservative, I am dismayed at how the current Republican party has gotten off track. Spending well past their means, worried more about religion, abortion and power/greed.

Hopefully, there will someday be a candidate that stands for less government, a balanced and fair government and minimal government intrusion on our lives....That is the Republican Party I could vote for.
