The Windy City
Radek Dvorak, W NYR The Rangers placed Dvorak on injured reserve Sunday with a knee injury. He is out until at least Friday after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 sprain of his left medial collateral ligament. Dvorak might return in seven to 10 days, so keep him reserved for this week.

Bobby Holik, C NYR
Holik is battling a left hip flexor strain. According to Newsday, he is questionable for Monday's game against Phoenix. He said the hip has been bothering him since he suffered a bruised instep on a blocked shot in an Oct. 5 preseason game.

The Montreal Canadiens' already crowded crease got a little tighter today after the team recalled goaltender Mathieu Garon from its Hamilton AHL affiliate.
Garon, 24, was sent to the American Hockey League Bulldogs on Oct. 22 for conditioning.

After posting a 1-1 record, a 2.01 goal against average and .934 save percentage, Garon rejoins a club trying to stickhandle a very sensitive goaltending situation.

Last season's Vezina and Hart Trophy winner, Jose Theodore has struggled this season while veteran backup and perennial trade bait Jeff Hackett has sparkled.

With the team struggling, coach Michel Therrien has opted to go with Hackett more recently, creating a mini-goaltending controversy early in the season.

Hackett is 2-0-1 with a 2.49 GAA and .936 save percentage compared to fan favourite Theodore's 1-3-1, 4.38 and .833 stats.

Garon's arrival is sure to spark speculation about Hackett's status with the club. The 34-year-old has made it clear he would like to be traded to a club where he can compete to be the No. 1 goaltender.

Probable goaltenders: Olaf Kolzig for the Capitals, Johan Hedberg for the Penguins.

Penguins: Are 11-2-1 against Washington in past 14 meetings at Mellon Arena. ... Hedberg is only NHL goalie to record short-handed assist this season. ... D Jamie Pushor does not have goal in past 98 games.

Capitals: Have been outscored, 8-2, during first period this season. ... Kolzig ranks among league leaders with save percentage of .939.

Hidden stat: All four of the Capitals' victories this season have been by one goal.

This is the final game of an eight-game road trip. (washington) ? Offense hasn?t come easy or often for the Capitals, who haven?t scored more than two goals in a game since their season opener. ? They have given up the first goal in six of eight games.

The Penguins have scored at least three goals in each of their last seven games.
After a 3-0 start, Washington has won just once in its last five games.
