Family of WSU linebacker Peyton Pelluer says he is out for the year

Washington State middle linebacker Peyton Pelluer will reportedly miss the remainder of the regular season due to a fractured foot. The news comes from Pelluer?s family by way of a report from The Lewiston Tribune.

According to the report, Pelluer will go in for surgery in the next couple of weeks to repair a foot fracture suffered during the first half of Washington State?s win over Oregon State this past weekend. The rehab timeline of five to six months would bring an obvious end to Pelluer?s season after 34 consecutive starts for the Cougars.

With Pelluer going down for the rest of the year, Washington State is expected to plug the spot at middle linebacker with Nate DeRider. DeRider replaced Pelluer on the field following the injury against the Beavers.

Auburn QB Sean White dismissed after public intoxication arrest

A day after being arrested for public intoxication, Sean White has been dismissed by the Auburn football program.

White was just coming off a two-game suspension for undisclosed disciplinary action, but now he will be out of football for the remainder of the 2017 season. The dismissal was first reported by Al.com on Monday morning. The school later confirmed the dismissal.

?Coach [Gus Malzahn] is aware of the situation,? an Auburn spokesman told AL.com. ?He is gathering all the facts and will handle this appropriately.?

It would seem Malzahn has decided there was only one decision to be made regarding White?s legal trouble, and that was to cut bait and move on.

White had started 16 games for Auburn during his run with the program, but a broken arm in the Sugar Bowl left the door open for Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham to come in and win the starting job.

Tennessee LB Cortez McDowell, WR Jauan Jennings to miss the rest of the season

A pair of wrist injuries will cost two Tennessee players the rest of their respective seasons.

Wide receiver Juaun Jennings and linebacker Cortez McDowell will miss the rest of the season, head coach Butch Jones announced Monday.

Jennings left Tennessee?s Labor Day victory over Georgia Tech in the second quarter after absorbing as he collected a catch over the middle, his third of the game. Jennings did not return to the game and will not for the rest of the season, forcing the 2-1 Volunteers to move forward without their top returning pass-catcher.

Additionally, McDowell was lost during the Vols loss to Florida on Saturday.

The McDowell injury is particularly brutal for Tennessee because it leaves Big Orange without all three of its protected starters at linebacker. Middle linebacker Darrin Kirkland, Jr., has already undergone season-ending surgery, and strongside linebacker Austin Smith injured his knee during the final week of fall camp.

On top of that, safety Todd Kelly, Jr., did not make the trip to Gainesville and could be lost for the season. Kick returner Evan Berry did not play against Florida either.

Oh, and Tennessee lost to Florida on a Hail Mary after having a first-and-goal inside the final minute.

Other than that, though, everything?s going great in Knoxville.

NEWS UPDATE
Stockstill (shoulder) is questionable for Saturday's game against Bowling Green, Erik Bacharach of the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal reports.

Stockstill sat out of Saturday's loss to Minnesota and the offense suffered in his absence as the Blue Raiders mustered just three points. It sounds as though there's an outside chance he'll be back in the fold against Bowling Green, but his level of participation in practice throughout the week will shed light on his status. John Urzua would likely start if Stockstill is out Saturday.

Iowa's stud left tackle--out for the year

Are you speaking of Ike Boettger lost with Achilles injury in Iowa St game, or did the other side (Boone Myers) also go down on Saturday against North Texas? I believe Boettger was RT, so curious if they are now without both Left and Right tackles. Thanks as always for your work!"

Harvard is shook right now with injury to frosh DB

Harvard is shook right now with injury to frosh DB

Harvard has a frosh DB suffer a cervical fracture injury and he had surgery but appears that he is paralyzed. Coach is quoted as saying we have more important things to worry about than the mistakes from the URI game etc. Seems to have really hurt the team.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/...eck-surgery/mQeOIoYSZ9gSNixyNVhtlN/story.html

In the same vein I have read that Luton the QB at Oregon State has suffered a spinal fracture.

Austin Howard the starting QB for Southern appears to be out again this week. I am still confirming because there are some rumors he could go. It is hard to truly evaluate his backups since they were playing vs FBS teams.

Fordham stud running back Chase Edmonds appears to be still out. This is a big loss as he was a great mix of scat back and power. They had RB by committee vs EWU but it did not matter.

Lamar Jordan the QB from New Mexico is expected to miss this week. The back ups are hit and miss a little more of a passing team with the backups.

Add: Byron Cowart left team and is planning to transfer.

Wouldn't factor either one of these into capping though because White was never gonna see a snap until mop up duty or injury and Cowart is a backup (down to 3rd string as a former 5* recruit :sadwave:) as well and we have depth at DT

Morale

Is there a morale issue at Auburn or are these just low totem pole players transferring looking for PT?

Cowart - apparently has a lot of personal problems not related to football. He's been talked off the transfer ledge 3-4 times in his short stay at Auburn. Will go down as one of the bigger 5* recruiting busts

White - got the QB job stolen from him. everyone knew it the day Stidham signed that White had zero chance to compete. Also just the internet rumor mill that since White became a QB at Auburn he started going out pretty hard, getting wasted at bars, and trying to fight people. He's supposedly banned from at least one of the main bars in Auburn

***Give us a Mizzou, MSU, OMiss and LSU offensive game like we had vs. Clemson and it will quickly be a morale issue and we'll be looking for a new HC. Most already speculate the seat is very hot and losing to LSU, UGA and Bama again this year would mean he's done.

Dallas Davis to start at QB for South Alabama vs. Idaho

Dallas Davis will start at quarterback in South Alabama's Sun Belt Conference opener with Idaho Saturday, Jaguars coach Joey Jones said Tuesday.

Cole Garvin, who sprained his right ankle in Week 2 against Oklahoma State, has still not recovered sufficiently to practice at full speed. That means Davis is the Jaguars' starter under center for the foreseeable future.

"We're going to go with Dallas," Jones said. "Cole's still not ready. I don't know when he's going to be ready, so I'd better not guess."

Davis, who started 10 of 13 games for the Jaguars last season before undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, lost out to Garvin for the starting job in fall camp. He replaced the injured Garvin early on against Oklahoma State and played every meaningful snap of a 45-0 win over Alabama A&M last week, completing 9 of 12 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

Davis did not perform as well the previous week against Oklahoma State, completing 13 of 23 passes for 126 yards and one touchdown with one interception. In addition to facing a Top 10 team, he was coming in cold after not receiving many practice reps in the week leading up to the game.

"It made a huge difference," offensive coordinator Bryant Vincent said. "Any time you're going to play in a Division I football game, you've got to have the live reps, the speed of the game during the week. And I think everybody saw his performance when he got those reps. Overall, he ran the offense very well. His timing was there, his accuracy was there and his command was there. I was very pleased."

Against Alabama A&M, Davis completed passes to six different receivers. Included among them were touchdowns of 66 yards to Sa'Mory Collier and 28 yards to Jahmmir Taylor, as well as a 53-yard gainer to Jamarius Way.

Davis said his shoulder is getting better "day-by-day." He added that he hopes the Jaguars have turned a corner after back-to-back blowout losses to Ole Miss and Oklahom State to begin the year.

"I was proud of the guys for keeping their heads about them after the first two losses we had," Davis said. "We knew we had to make a statement against Alabama A&M and we did that. We've just got to keep it going."

Junior Evan Orth, who played in mop-up duty against Alabama A&M, will once again back up Davis against Idaho. In a little less than a quarter of action, Orth threw just one pass, which was incomplete.

While Jones refused to speculate as to when Garvin might return, he said he won't just be handed back his starting job. Competition between Garvin and Davis will resume when both are healthy.

"We'll open it back up," Jones said. "It will be the guy who we think can do the best job of helping us win. It becomes about each week at that point. It's no different than any other position. But we'll deal with that when he comes back."
