Thought this would be interesting, a thread devoted to our past injuries. I was a ticking time bomb as a youngster, things have gotten better over the years. Stories of how these injuries occur are welcome. Ageecee i gotta hear that one about you getting kicked by a horse :scared

Here goes:

1. Broke right arm jumping out of a tree house and hit a tree :sadwave:

2. Broke left arm got kicked off the monkey bars when i was 13 on friday the 13th :scared , fell 9 ft to the ground, shattered my elbow, broke my wrist in 2 places and a compound fracture to my arm. Was in traction(sp?) for 3 weeks. Could not get out bed, practically had to learn how to walk again. I have a fake elbow and one hell of a scar.

3. Busted my chin open when i fell down the stairs, 15 stitches.

4. Busted my lip open running around the house with my arms inside my shirt when i tripped and fell, no way to break the fall except for my face.

5. Broken nose when i was dunking a basketball goal...grabbed the rim fell on my back, looked up the rim came down and smashed me right in the nose.

6. Knocked my front two teeth out, another playground incident involving a metal pole.

7. Broke big toe jumping over sprinklers, dont ask how...but getting that thing set was pain i didnt know existed...

that is all i can remember right now :sadwave:

I broke my nose (deviated septum) playing back yard tackle football. While awaiting surgery to re-break my nose into place, I was jumping (when I had been told not too) on my trampoline. I set it back into place WITH MY OWN KNEE while attempting to perfect my back flip. The Dr. said I was a medical anomaly, something she had never seen before.

Broken Collarbone sucked shit, thats for sure. Actually it healed up badly and I still wake up at night with a sore collar :cursin: , especially when it gets colder. Also broke hand and foot, and ripped my knee up also

Got hit from behind in a pit at a Sevendust show at Penn State, wrapped up the guy (who turned out to be a backup guard on the football team for a frame of reference in size) and as I went down I put my arm out to brace the fall -- big mistake. He pulled me up and goes, dude look at your hand. Looked down to see my left hand dangling limp from my arm :scared . Broke basically all there is is break in the wrist.

Naturally this happened a month into the season so I wasted a year of eligibilty :cursin:

hmmm...

3 fractured toes and 6 fractured fingers. The toes were fractured by "stubbing" them and one when I dropped a gallon of milk on one. The fingers were broken playing basketball and volleyball.

Emergency appendectomy as a freshman.

Concussion from a car wreck (head broke the windshield; before the days of seat belt awareness). This was in 1980, and of all people, it was an Iranian who pulled in front of us (during the Iran hostage crisis)!

Broken (nearly all the way in 2) fibula attained while playing basketball. Never will understand how it was broken. I jumped up, felt an excruciating pain in midair (I used to have mad hops) and landed with this injury. Near as I can figure I must have been kicked by another guy, but still is a mystery.

Bottom 2 teeth went through by bottom lip and were layed over onto my tongue after I got an inadvertant forearm shiver playing a pickup basketball game. Sidenote: the giver of the shiver was Vito Tisdale (BG native and member of the group Nappy Roots).

Ruptured disk L4/L5 requiring surgery to prevent me from having permanent nerve damage and foot drop. I think I got that shoveling mulch the day before. Have a herniated disk now as well at the same level.

Stuck by 3 "dirty" needles working as a RN (I bet Va Nurse can relate to that), and one of those was in Haiti

You guys have had some pretty solid injuries! My only injury was when I was about 10 years old. I was riding my B.M.X down the footpath when a guy pulled up out the front of his place and opened the door right as I approached the side of his truck at full speed on my bike. Of course, I smashed straight into it. It felt like riding a bike at full speed straight in to a brick wall! Luckily, all that came of it was a fractured middle finger which led to a metal plate that made it look like I was flipping everyone off because my finger had to stay straight. Thought this was funny at the time! (The metal plate that is)

Broke 2 ribs playing soccer (definitely the most annoying/painful one)

Broken toes multiple times from soccer, fingers a few times from drunken punches of walls, doors etc

Severly sprained ACL from soccer (for as much pain and as long as it lasted, i'd hate to see what a tear feels like).

Broken heart from a girl in jersey :sadwave:

Can't touch Loungelizard action :142lmao:

1. Birth was a hard act to start with. Needed surgery early on. Would suggest this to everyone, (like serving in the forces LOL), to toughen you up.

2. Stung by a bee when I put my finger in a flower as a child. Still tramatized.

3. Broke foot landing sideways jumping off a slide at the local park.

4. Had a bad habit in my youth of constantly closing the van doors on my fingers. They are of various sizes and features now.

5. At a local park district program, split open my head nicely falling downward off the parallel bars and made very direct contact with the steel beams of the base. The humorous part was that the bars were covered with mats on top and not the bottom. LOL

6. Slammed head into brick wall after releasing the rope after swinging across some set up in gym class.

7. Heard leg crisply snap while going through drills in my wrestling practice in 8th grade. Had to work with the coach because we had a small team and nobody for me to practice with. He rolled me and "snap". Coach was actually more interested in trying to stop me from swearing my head off while in pain and surprise.

8. Took head off windshield (no cracks in window or head) while girlfriend was driving my car because I was drinking. She forgot to stop at a stop sign and rear ended another car. I took the fall for the accident at the time. Women drivers.

9. Split head open while quickly stepping into the rear of a my straight van (truck). My wonderful brother didn't make sure the door was rolled all the way up.

Dislocated every finger on both hands playing football

Broken eye socket from a nice elbow playing basketball

Broken bones in right hand from fighting, twice.

Concussion from a 4 wheeling accident without a seatbelt. Lucky thats all I got.

A couple broken teeth from having a friendly fight with a friend of mine. The little shit punches harder than anyone I know.

Torn ACL and meniscus from a game of street football.

Broken foot in a Jiu Jitsu tournament.

Thats about it, luckily nothing major.

Between The Hedges
5 - trips for stitches (stick,wreck,fireplace,
dumbell, football)

3 - operations on shoulder (football/baseball)

2 - Concussions (wreck,ice skating(frozen mudhole)

1 - broken finger (football)

1 - operation on knee (Jeep)

1 - Ankle broken in three spots (jeep)

Most serious I guess was being ran over by a jeep(cherokee). Stepped out of the back door only to have the driver let foot off of gas and role up my leg pinning me under the jeep. Had to tell the guy which way to pull to get off of me. Thats where the ankle and knee injuries occured. Spent my share of time at the hospital thats for sure. :)
