Sorry that this is such a late post, but the program comes on all morning, tho the Bob Scucci segment is just about the last. And then I had a hard time getting access to the server here, guess it was busy. Anyways, I hope some of you like this kind of info.

These are notes from the show Inside the Lines on the Fan590 in Toronto. It features an interview toward the end with Bob Scucci, Sportsbook Director at the Stardust.

The early segment with Dave Malinsky out in Vegas was really expressing wonderment at the continued trend of favs winning. (Last week I believe that 10 favs covered and sportsbooks lost about $550 million on Sunday alone.)

Well, can it continue to be so "damned square"? Dave said (jokingly) that there is a line 2 miles long of people with parlay cards outside the Stardust and he is going to sell them coffee and donuts to help make up his losses. Obviously the lines are really trying to compensate this week on the big public favs. He is not playing any of the high # teams today (well, maybe Miami at +14 or some other team if the line climbs to +17).

He is on some small chalk this week (very unusual for him) and is playing NE who he thinks can expoit a very bad Buffalo defense. Also, he thinks GB will bring their A game and that Detroit will be just a lot of guys trying to stay warm. They have not won at Lambeau for years and years and GB wins this easily. He also threw out a Titans under selection.

The question of "overcompensation" was raised, with the Giants laying 9 points. He said that the Eagles have lost every offensive player they have, and honestly, they don't know what this line is even supposed to be, with the Philly players taking the field.

It was noted that Indy has covered every line on a teaser this year, and has been just an automatic for those who play them.

THE BOB SCUCCI INSIDE THE LINES REPORT

In a BAD SEASON, last week was the worst one yet. There is no question that they have never seen favs covering like this. He has been in the business 15 years, and talks to guys who have been around 20 or 30 years, and no one has seen it like this. It is not just favs covering, but especially the popular favs and the key games to boot. The wiseguys may be taking the other side, but they are losing too.

In fact, it's almost like all you need is the standings to pick winners. The last 2 weekends were the worst, with Thanksgiving and the big fight in town drawing all sorts of public money. And these are the people who just pick the popular favs and they are winning them.

On Proline they can just decide that they don't like a certain game and not put it up, such as Baltimore at Denver. He wishes they could just do that, but you can't in the business he is in.

He said that all the money is on the Steelers today. It opened at -4 and it's up to -7 now and climbing.

The Colts went to -9? and the wiseguys took the Jags to bring it back down.

It's hard to cap the Eagles now, you have to assign points to different missing players. Let's just say that the money is on the Giants, and he is hoping that +9 is a line the Eagles can cover.

He says the key business people "upstairs" understand what is going on this year. So he explains to them, "Yes, it's true that we lost half a million $, but we did save $100 thousand here and there."

They have got the #'s adjusted now, but there is still a lot of money on the Broncs, for example, and none on the 49ers. They do have good 2-way action on the SD-Miami game tho, so some of the line adjustments are starting to work.

That's it for now. Personally, I'm playing mainly some 10-pt, 3 team teasers. Also the Pats -3? to beat this Bills team in disarray. Oh yeah, and the Steelers to beat the Bears in a desperation game for them (and the Bears can't seem to score). I got it before Bob Scucci said it was a public favorite game, so now I'm feeling better knowing that the public is on my side!

Good luck and enjoy the day!!!
