they have NOT won a game this month.

the only other team to have done this THIS season was atlanta at the beginning of the season.

WILL pittsburgh win one this month?

i think they'll put an ALL OUT EFFORT in one of their remaining games this month....

anyone have any thoughts about this angle?

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
I think so too

I think so too

question is which game they'll put out the effort for.

have to monitor the local papers and see if any sign of Pitt finally getting super determined.

worth the effort for the big dog price you'd get

and most likely victims would be NJ, or NYR if they lose a few and are out of playoffs. Rangers also have problems against poor teams sometimes..

I'm hittin' Pitt hard the next 2 days.

Will be 6 super plays in a row, all against Pitt, and all winners.

Pitt keeps scoring first, but opposition scoring most.

Interesting thoughts, guys. I would say if Pitt goes o-fer on this trip, then the last game on Monday would be the one to hop on them. Especially by then it will be the home end of a home-and-home series with Philly. It would also be the 1st home game after a disappointing road trip, and good angle to bet on home teams. JMHO.:)

FWIW, I got a heads-up on this Friday and Saturday, and the coming Monday, though, due to SJ/Col game being postponed. SJ would be playing back-to-back-to-back, 3 days straight from Thurs to Sat. In Denver tomorrow nite, then home vs Bos, and home vs Ana. Anaheim will be playing 3rd in 4 days, but with 1 day rest. THEN SJ gets one day rest and plays TB at home, and SJ is 12-34 ATS on one day rest:eek:, AND this game will be their 4th game in 5days.

I probably won't play tomorrow's game. Colorado is definitely the way to go, but I won't touch that juice unless I can find another game to throw them in a 2-teamer. Will definitely be on the BB's and Ana the next 2 nites, barring any significant team news. Friday will also be the 1st game for the BB's after Ftorek's firing, another very successful angle so far this yr, 1st brought up by Chenks or HORNS, I think:confused: .

THURSDAY NITE:

Rico Fata and Mathias Johansson scored goals for the Penguins, who are winless in 14 straight games (0-13-1). The winless stretch is the longest for Pittsburgh since a club-record 18-game streak during the 1982-83 season.

you do the math.....nice little symbolism here....they have about 4 games left to beat that streak.....and they have 5 games left in the month....

do they break their streak? or get into the history books?

fun stuff.

I'm guessing Chicago will be their last chance especially with Thibault out.

The only way they win the other two games is if Philly is resting players for the playoffs, or if NYR are eliminated.

I think Sunday is now or never, but I don't know if its even worth playing

UPDATE: SUNDAY

UPDATE: SUNDAY

looks like today may be the day for the Penguins in the sun....

All but eliminated from postseason contention, the Chicago Blackhawks must be looking forward to their final meeting of the season with the lowly Pittsburgh Penguins.
Though they have won nine of the last 12 meetings with the Penguins at the United Center, the Blackhawks are sitting 14 points behind Edmonton for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot.

Everything went wrong for the Blackhawks on Saturday as they were embarrassed 8-1 by Colorado. Jason Strudwick scored the lone goal for Chicago, which has lost 12 of its last 15.

The Blackhawks once again played without No. 1 goaltender Jocelyn Thibault, who is experiencing post-concussion syndrome and wont be re-evaluated for another week.

Craig Andersson gave up five goals in his second career start for the Blackhawks, before being pulled in favor of Steve Passmore in the second period.

Pittsburgh, which is tied with Carolina for the fewest points in the Eastern Conference, is suffering through a 15-game winless streak (0-14-1), and will miss the playoffs for the second straight season.

Friday's 3-1 loss in New Jersey clinched the second-longest winless streak in Penguins history. The team record is an 18-game slide (0-17-1) from Jan. 2-Feb. 10, 1983.

``I think awful tough was a few games ago,'' Penguins center Kent Manderville said. ``I think it's beyond awful tough. I had my thesaurus out a while ago trying to find different ways to describe it. I guess I need a new thesaurus.''

I didn't even know Kent Manderville read...???

Mario Lemieux has gone six games without a goal and has just two points over that span.

SPECIAL TEAMS (through March 21): Penguins - Power play: 18.9 percent (63 for 333), 6th in NHL. Penalty killing: 83.1 percent (276 for 332), 17th (tied). Blackhawks - Power play: 11.4 percent (32 for 280), 30th in NHL. Penalty killing: 85.4 percent (280 for 328), 5th.

GOALTENDERS: Penguins - Johan Hedberg (14-20-4, 1 SO, 3.04 GAA); Sebastien Caron (5-13-1, 2, 2.84); Blackhawks - Passmore (1-4-2, 3.79); Andersson (0-2-0, 4.14).

SEASON SERIES: Penguins, 1-0.

I think it's do or die for the PENS today.

i saw Chi-Col yesterday and i don't think it is Andersson to blame.
chicago players didn't have any kind defence system, they did not "mark" their guys and didn't care to help their goalie.
actually Andersson wasn't that bad, if i was coach i would put him in goal tonight and give team good shouting about team work.

i don't have statistics about team loosing by five or more goals
but i wouldn't put one cent for pens tonight.

why Pitt would like to win any games, if they are last they get best picks at the next draft ?

i think i'm going tp play Chi tonight.

just my opinion
good luck

( 6-0 yesterday :D )

If it's Passmore or that other Hawks backup Im playing Pittsburgh! Specially if it's Passmore that starts! He only made 6 saves, while 3 goals went against him in the game vs. Colorado! That's pretty poor to me. He let in a real ugly one when Tanguay scored if from a really difficult angle. This is Pittsburghs chance, gentlemen! If they cant do it today then they wont be able to for the reason of the season.

Good luck!!

Peace!

I just don't think pit could even win another game, have you ever seen them play this month, they suck, a lot of their players belong in the ahl, not the nhl, and I just think chi is going to rebound from that whooping they took from the avs, either way,GL.

SUNDAY RECAP:

CHICAGO (AP) _ Eric Meloche scored in the first period but the Pittsburgh Penguins extended their winless streak to 16 games, tying the Chicago Blackhawks 1-1 Sunday.

The Penguins are 0-14-2 during their streak, which is two shy of the team record.

Eric Daze scored a first-period goal for Chicago, which is winless in its last three games (0-2-1). The Blackhawks have won just six of their last 29 games (6-19-2-2).

Daze had a chance to give the Blackhawks the lead after a Pittsburgh turnover with 7:44 left in the third period but his point-blank shot was high. Kyle Calder had another chance with 2:15 left in regulation but Pittsburgh goaltender Sebastien Caron made a pad save on Calder's backhander from in close.

A deflected shot by Chicago's Mark Bell hit the post with 1:18 left in regulation.

Midway through overtime, Blackhawks defenseman Jon Klemm took a shot that deflected high off the right post.

Caron made 33 saves. Chicago's Craig Anderson had 27.

Daze opened the scoring with 5:13 left in the first period by driving down the slot and deflecting a pass from Andrei Nikolishin between Caron's legs.

Meloche tied it with 2:06 left in the first. He beat Anderson with a quick shot from the slot after taking a centering pass from Mario Lemieux.< ^Notes:mad: Blackhawks LW Igor Nadulov played in his first NHL game. ... Chicago D Alexander Karpovtsev returned Sunday after missing 13 games with a fractured cheek bone and orbital bone. ... Pittsburgh's team record for a winless streak was set in 1982-83. ... Lemieux has 25 goals and 36 assists in 26 career games against the Blackhawks.
