I am all for dismantling the education and welfare system tomorrow. No better time in my opinion.
To get this ship righted, we are going to have to ride the shit twister for awhile. it will not be easy but the alternative is just as bad.
The only chance for this country is to dismantle the 2 party system. A vote for democrats or repblicans is vote of confidence to them. A vote to a 3rd party right now is a signal to the 2 parties that we are not going to stand for business as usual.
i don't care if you vote for the libertarians, the marijuana party, the nazis, the socialists, write in a vote for your next door neighbor, whatever. Just do not vote reps or dems.
Perot may have been crazy as a loon but I think he had it right. it was hard to take him seriously when he pick Admiral Stockdale as his running mate.
Problem seems to be that the extremes have gained too much pull in each party. When we have to choose between Liberal and Religious-Right, it's kiond of a no-win scenario.
What I think will happen over the next few years will be a return to moderates on both sides. ...At least I'm hoping for that. I'll gladly support a moderate Republican over a liberal Democrat - BUT ONLY if they don't give in to the Religiuous Right. Unfortunately, that's what they've been doing since the Republicans took control of Congress.

if voting for a 3rd party candidate meant something and i liked that candidate more, it wouldnt even be a question of it. i am conservative, but it doesnt mean i blindly vote party allegiance. i voted for Clinton the 1st time around. the 2 party system drives me nuts. i truly believe until our great country can get around only 2 choices we will end up with the lesser of 2 evils.
Exactly. I hate to think of it this way, but if you are concerned about "not wasting your vote", then at least consider 3rd parties when the race is already decided. Bush was never going to win California, for instance, so might as well vote 3rd party.
Same can be applied to various local elections. Even if you are really paranoid about it, there are still plenty of oppurtunities to vote for 3rd parties ...risk free.
My heating bills are double of what they use to be six years ago. My gas bill is triple just to drive. If there wasn't an election coming up it would be quadriple. I have to pitch in for my health care now. Food is up because gas is up and its still high no matter what anyone is conned to believe. Tuition is crippling me. Oh and my 401 K? You might aswell call it a 201K since it is worth a lot less than in the previous term you were refering to. I did get three hundred dollar tax break tho which i guess you can say i just handed over to the oil companies with another 2000 thousand. Other than that things are just peachy. thank goodness i can handicap or i would have to sell my house. And now they are trying to take that away. Got to love it. By the way do you live in a cave?

---and on casuaties of wars--you guys missed your calling--you should have been around during world war 2--just think of all the ranting you could have done--was before my time too but Viet Nam wasn't and had the very same element about casualities but when we returned were greeted by same with a :mj12: attitude--so trying to pull same for political points won't float with this one.
I won't pre judge you because maybe you are one that is sincere--but Iv'e seen these fanny packers in action so admittedly my bias is somewhat tainted.

This inherit recession is such a crock of crap.. I saw Bush senior one day trying to tell me he handed Clinton a booming economy. He said this with a straight face. He forgot to mention that Clintons budget was not signed by one spiteful Republican. But they love to tell how they were in charge during these eight years. Such a joke.
