Senor Capper,

I use comcast just because I tie it in w/my cable tv. It's not the best.

You might want to check out your cell phone or local phone provider. I know that my cell phone company, Verizon does Wireless internet access for around $90-100/mo.

Good luck!

That's actually on channel 227. And sometimes that channel shows home shopping stuff instead. So if it's not on when you check it out, check again 12 hours later.

I'm not fully up to speed on how good Direcway is. But from what I gather, it is fast EXCEPT that there is always some lag when you click. It takes about 2 seconds for the signal to go from your computer to their server...and then be uplinked to the satellite, and back down to your dish. So it may not be so good for things like online gaming which requires an instant response...but for things like file downloads it's apparently very fast (short delay after the click, but once the transfer begins it's continuous and fast).

http://www.dslreports.com/ go there and look for a small provider in the area. I had SBC DSL (5 static IP addresses) and found a small company that rents the same lines and was able to get a better deal. Long story short the support is awesome (do not have to go thru the hold and then the script of the big companies) rock solid availability and throughput (256 up/785 down on average). The smaller companies are more focused on customer service instead of volume.

I have Verizen DSL. It costs 29.95 a month. This is California, may be different there in NV. My son in Tex has DSL thru his phone company I think is SBC for 24.95 month. Check out everyone and they will dicker with you on prices. Good luck Dee

I had earthlink for 50 and asked them to reduce their fee and they would not, so went with Verizon, when I quit earthlink, they then wanted to reduce my fee to 34.95, but it was too late.

senor capper,

when i had directv installed, i asked them about a computer connection. they told me it would cost about $500 for a connection because they would need to install another dish.

now i don't know if the person was truthful or not. so instead of arguing, i had cox cable install a computer service in my house & i find it quite satisfactorily.
