Hey fellas.

I'm green when it comes to investments. I have a chuck of money that I'd like to do something with.

What online trade site is the best? Any advice on getting into the stock market? Any other ideas on how I can make this money work for me and help my future nest egg??

I know its a scary time, but I'm ready to give something a try.

Thanks in advance.

Why not use a low cost mutual fund as opposed to individual stocks?

If you want to go with individual stocks, you could possibly buy from companies that offer dividend reinvestment plans (DRIPs). I use computershare to DRIP several companies.

Depending on the amount of money you are talking and how frequently you plan to make transactions - an online broker could eat into your earnings with fees.

I am sure other guys on here can give you far more insight than me - but those are a few things to consider.

Best of luck

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
kinda depends

kinda depends

How much in play, and what is your risk, reward tolerance. Do your own homework, ask questions, been my experience, most brokers are in it for the commissions; many don't know any more about it then most investors that take the time to study it.

My conservative minded wife picked a very good no load fund and is happy with growth of 6-7% annually.

Me, I am eyeing hands on possession of precious metals. Too much money being created out of thin air worldwide, the stock market is a bubble pumped by the Fed.

Gold has been badly battered, (1300 vs 1900) yet the worldwide demand is unprecedented.
If not holding physical
look at good mining stocks ....Newmont for Gold, Hecla for silver...they are premium miners not going away and will prosper.
A lot of the smaller mining operations are going to be in trouble at these prices.
